TP no, McDaniels could be. One advantage for us is that O'Neale defended everyone with Rudy always waiting in the paint which probably made it easier to be a defensive player guarding the 3pt line. Add in how Ant loves to search for deflections and McDaniels might look better than O'Neale over time.

Sorry, my bad, that was typo I am NOT impressed with O'Neal defense

I don’t know enough about O’Neale to answer, but maybe someone on the Utah board can tell you about his game.

Well then. McDaniels will still probably look better than Royce did.

O'Neale was their primary on ball defender, so if you weren't impressed with that imagine how much better we'll be.

From what I have read, Royce O'Neal used to be good on defensive end but he fell off last year defensively

I know we have to play our starter together for them to get chemistry but I am hoping we are good enough next year we can afford to rest some players and still not lose any ground at a top 3 seed. I want us to go into the playoffs healthy.

We know Edwards wasn't 100% and Russell seems to always miss games throughout the season. Basically I would like us to use Nazi to git Rudy and Kat some days offs. I also think we need to still sign a back up PG I like McLaughlin but not sure he is someone I want starting games if DLo is out for sometime. I would also like to bring in a backup PF still to give Kat some days off.

1. You might want to edit your post. You have a rather oops typo on Naz name.

2. I agree about the backup PG. I think there are still some names out there. My personal favorite at the moment is Eric Bledsoe.

3. You are correct that days off are nice. But the west is just too packed.

Lets see if we are any good first, before we talk like we can rest our stars and still get top 3 spot lol.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves. We should consider ourselves lucky if we get top 5 or 6 with all our stars playing every game.

GoBear is a GREAT player. The gap between us and the Suns or Grizz wasn't that big. I think we sweep the Grizz if we had GoBear for that series last year. To me the three best teams in the west are the Warriors, Clippers and us. The only one of those three teams you can count on staying mostly healthy is us.

a couple veterans would be nice day 1 ... low risk, they understand the role, they'll push the others, and know how to keep themselves ready. Trade deadline gives us a little window to adjust, but for the most part, that chemistry in camp is tough to beat. I like how Connelly and Finch have taken this team up a notch, and we might actually draw a couple decent vets. So ya, let's see what we got...

KG
Butler
Pat Bev/Vanderbilt

All Wolves playoffs teams had their defense-first intensity guys that set the tone for the team. Who will be that guy for the Wolves? Can we expect that from Rudy?

Any free agents out there that fit the mold?

I heard David Locke say he went from 16th percentile in guarding pick n roll to 93rd percentile last year.

I know Rudy can lead by example. But is Rudy a guy that is going to be outspoken and challenge his new teammates the way Garnett, Butler, and Beverly did? I don't know enough about Rudy's demeanor to be sure.

When the rotation/depth chart is written by an idiot who has clearly never followed the team. I mean honestly , Nowell is a fantastic defensive wing? Prince is a 4 and Anderson is a 3? Moore Jr is ahead of both Prince and Anderson on the depth chart?

Okay, X’s and O’s are not my thing, but how close is this?

START: DLo, Ant, Jaden, KAT, Gobert. - huge and physical. Offense runs through DLo-Gobert pick-and-roll, creating lots of opportunities for KAT and Ant to warm up. Drop scheme.

1st Early Substitution: DLo and Gobert for Nowell and SloMo. Offense runs through Ant and KAT, with Nowell complimenting. No true PG, but enough playmaking with Nowell, Ant (we want to see both do this more), SloMo and KAT. SloMo helps defense. Play the High Wall, to help Nowell defensively.

2nd Substitution: Ant, Jaden, KAT, for DLo, Prince, Gobert. Gobert pick-and-roll mashes back up centers. DLo, Nowell and Prince help with spacing. Back to drop scheme.

Is that close? It gets me really excited!

This is a slightly modified version of what I suggested. You drop JMAC from the rotation just like I did. You pair Dlo and Rudy and KAT and Ant just like I did. You put Nowell at both PG and SG just like I did. The only two difference are you dropped Naz from the rotation, and assigned MCD to one rotation and Prince to the other. I agree the 2A/2B scheme is the best way to optimize the rotation, I think minor tweaks will get made but pairing Prince with Rudy and MCD with KAT makes sense. The stronger 3 plays with the weaker defensive big and the weaker 3 plays with the stronger defensive big.
