Brunson
Grimes
RJ
Obi
Mitch

I was excited to see how that lineup would do.

I think we are underestimating the quality of the squad we will have with Brunson and D-Mitchell on board.

***The key will be can Thibs get them to play enough team basketball on offense where they are always looking for the best shot and/or making the best play (as this will lead to higher efficiencies    for guys like Randle and RJ) and do we keep enough quality defenders on the bench to complement our offense.

Ainge is not going to move him if he doesn't love the deal, so we have to give up what it takes to get him. 6 1sts plus all the kids the Jazz want (Ainge wants no part of RJ and his contract). All of them.

At least we'll field a team that's exciting and should be good for many years. Where are we going if we don't do it? With adding only Brunson, we're not going anywhere. We all know that. We'll be stuck in middling hell for the next 5 years.

The Knicks brass don't care about the draft. That's been proven. So, what are we saving all these picks for if we have no interest in using them?

Grimes, Obi, IQ and 6 1sts. Lets do it.

Why stop there? Give em 10 picks, every swap, RJ, Cam, McBride, Sims, Rokas, and even Keels to make their lunches.

The thirst is so real. Dont be chumps!

Because that’s what would get the deal done

Oh you know this? Lol. Why wouldn’t he ask for more when you show how desperate you are with no pushback? Nobody else is giving em anything close to that. So naive.

Thanks for bringing up Rokas, he will hopefully be nba ready and can be a solid bench contributor by the time he comes over. Makes losing the guard depth less painful moving forward if they keep him

Another point to consider.. Rose and Co. may have told Brunson that if he signs with us we're going to make a huge trade and bring in another player to play with him. Maybe that was part of the arrangement in order for him to agree to come here.

Knicks supposedly have been interested in Mitchell for a long time. Maybe our FO spoke to the Jazz before Brunson signed and knew they had a good shot to get Mitchell, and maybe they told Brunson that Mitchell is coming. Who knows..

Because this isn’t a slippery slope and there’s obviously a line.

Agreed they can't have all of Grimes/IQ/Obi + 6 1st rounders. At least 1 of the kids needs to stay.

Word. I prefer to keep Obi cuz you’re gonna need another frontcourt off the ball finisher to benefit from the attention Spida and JB get.

IQ is gonna be buried anyway. Grimes is our 2nd best prospect so of course he gonna have to go. McBride is no deal killer cuz he is buried here.

We have Randle and useful back up bigs are not that hard to find. We'll be okay without Obi.

Look at the side of pro RJ, including some of the best analysts in basketball.

Look at the side of anti RJ, who are consistently wrong about most things.

That is true, which is why Im okay losing Quickley. Rokas should hopefully at least be a decent backup and people forget about him.

I agree with this sentiment here,

a lot of assumptions are being made here…like if we acquire Donovan we have to automatically be in title contention immediately…

Furthermore, why is it a foregone conclusion that just because Timberwolves got f*cked that the Knicks automatically will too? I submit we are in stronger negotiating position than is commonly thought

We wouldn't have picks to improve, Mitchell is on a max rookie extension which means you can't trade for another one of those players and most of the stars are locked up in deals which makes FA harder.

Once you trade trade picks you have to compete.

Knicks are all in on with Mitchell, there will be no chance at bringing in another "star", nor will they have any draft capital as well.

Very good article. I completely agree.

The trade keeps being discussed as if this is the last move the Knicks will ever be allowed to make. That's not the case.

If we are able to trade for Mitchell and have our young core in tact and still have 3-4 picks in the war chest, we're going to be able to continue to build.
