Bridges might never be a secondary scorer but he impacts the game and helps you win more than a lot of players that are looked at as all stars. I also wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a ~20ppg player in a more expanded role to go along with his elite defense and everything else he brings to a team. Cam Johnson gives you a 6'8 wing putting up 43% from 3 on 6 attempts (similar attempts as Joe) in his third season in the league.
Simmons, Bridges, and Cam Johnson is a very good fit offensively and defensively and essentially gives you the most valuable position in the league right now sorted for the next few years along with draft picks to build around. It would need a primary scorer but you can get to that down the road when looking to contend and that type of player isn't coming back in a KD trade anyways (Brown, Ingram, Mitchell, etc. are not that imo).
We wouldn't have anyone that can create their own shot, which is why I'd want Mitchell or Ingram
I get it but to get Mitchell would take Simmons getting traded for a minimal to nonexistent return. If the Pelicans are out there with Ingram and picks that's good with me.
The offense should be fine for the regular season imo as Simmons is an elite playmaker and Bridges, Johnson, Harris, Curry, etc. is a great offensive fit.
Playoffs/play-in could be a different story but if there's a KD trade this is a rebuild/retool that should have many stages. I think Bridges, Cam Johnson, and the Suns picks gives you players that can be part of a playoff core with some flexibility to add a key player down the road.
We need someone that draws gravity defensively if we are going to trade Durant. Simmons + shooters in transition works fine until you get to the 4th and teams decide to foul Ben intentionally to take him off the floor. Then what?
