So it seems we were actually able to add 1 younger prospect this summer I’m actually interested in. He has the tools to be a very solid rotation piece at the 4. Already better than Highsmith.

Royce O’Neal went for a 1st my guy. Strus is better than Royce and you don’t even have to match salary for him. Bucks, Warriors, Sixers, Suns, Mavs, Lakers, Celtics, nuggets, etc. would LOVE to be able to add a rotational piece whos an elite 3 point shooter like that. He’s shown he’s not scared of the moment too.
To top it off royce is a win now guy and was traded for a 1st to a team that’s about to offload their best 2 players and be in the lottery. If needed you will find 1 team out of the other 29 willing to trade for Strus
Royce has been in the league for 5 years and has averaged close to 30 min as a starter the last 3. He is also known as a very good defender. Have to imagine the Nets saw him as a great fit next to Durant.

Finally a pure PF. Highsmith I view as a pure spot up SF.

He is definitely more game ready than Jovic

I don’t think the years really matter. Strus has shown to be a valuable rotation piece on a contender. If there was a Strus out there for us I bet Riley is throwing a 1st at him. I’m sure they knew KD was out beforehand, he didn’t just come to them out of nowhere and ask out, they had to have know something was coming

Finally someone said it. Lowry and maybe Strus that's it. And even with those 2 it's gonna be a hard find. I'm sure we've already asked.

All we need is 2 and to send a 2nd to OKC to lift protections off another and we have 5, 6 if you include Jovic. That should be enough with Herro added to get something done

I love Strus man but he’s more valuable to the Heat. I hope i’m proven wrong. They are more proven players out there that teams will want to give out there 1st for.

is it me or teams undervalue are players most in the league. We just came out of an eastern finals and only bam and butler have value? with everyone maybe besides herro is a negative asset makes no sense lol?

But will matching the salaries on those players make sense for those teams? We shall see brother, I think our magic number is 2. However we’re able to attain them. Lifting the OKC protections is cake, now we need to get the other 2 through a combo of Lowry/Gabe/Strus/Yurt. May even be able to get one from OKC when dealing with them they’re running into issues now where they have too many picks and not enough roster spots. Making things a little tricky for them as crazy as it sounds

A lot of teams don’t value the intangibles the way the Heat do. Someone like Strus thrives in the Heat system, but if you put them on a team like the Pelicans, they would be lost.
Proud embarrassment

Just because someone shouldn't be angry or upset doesn't mean they won't be...
My comment was more directed to the front office, if he gets disruptive send him packing, we have done it before with way better players.

At least our fans seem to.
I think it’s that half this board doesn’t deal in accomplishing anything difficult in real life. Successful people recognize challenges and find ways to navigate them and make them work. Making the difficult look easy is what great operators do.
I believe the Heat FO consists of great operators. There’s always gonna be challenges and there are no guarantees. But the extent some fans go to wallow in how hopeless things are is something to behold.

Hopefully the end result is more 4 years $90 million than max. Unless he has taken a star step. He has only played half a season so far that was worth paying good money for.
Miami may go the Phoenix route perhaps, let him play out the season, earn the max. If he comes out putting up 22-25PPG on good efficiency as a starter, chances are he will get that Max. However they will let another team bid on him and see what the market is offering.
That's what a max contract for Herro would be. ~ $40m per

Agreed but I can't remember the last time Riles let other teams have a chance to get a player here via QO.
My prediction would be Herro getting his 4/100 extension if we strike out from the KD/Mitchell sweepstake.
Unfortunately that number is not realistic. If we are dumb enough to let the market set the price, we will be paying him the max. Dumb teams always pay more. If we are smart we should be trying to get Herro to sign now a little below the max. Say his max is 35 mil, sign him for 30 mil. Thats the same price we are paying Lowry and we save millions, and since hes not on the max it makes him more attractive trade bait.
We can save more by trading him rather than paying him. Signing a bad contract always bites you on the ass. He isn't a guy to build around. Don't pay him like he is.

Days is the kind of player butler and haslem would love in practice for they can mold. Hes got a strong body and he plays within his role, never looked like he was over doing it like most of summer league do.

Do you see other teams getting a ton of value for their 3rd or 4th best player? I think the problem is that we're trying to turn our 3rd/4th best player and a bad contract or two into a whale or at least a really fat dolphin.
One team (i believe) wants an all star ... we understandably don't want to give up what we have.
The other team wants a ton of picks that we don't have because we don't value them and trade them away like candy.
Give Pat and the crew a minute. The market for Durant isn't hot. We're determined. Pat has worked out some crazy multi-team trades before. He'll figure out how to secure an "all starish player" from another team for for these here magic beans and then flip him with a couple of 1st round picks for Durant.
Have a little faith.
Of course this is just me today. Tomorrow I'll be cursing that we haven't done a god damn thing and our whole season is ruined!

That would be an awful lot of guards to find playing time for...
Lowry/Beverly/Vincent
Strus/Oladipo/Clarkson
