Buddy’s FG%, 3pt%, Free throw%, rebounding, and assists are all better. Everything else stat wise is even except
Talen Horton-Tucker has 1 turnover less on average and is 23 compared to Buddy’s 29 years old. His 3 point % is 26% which is not good. I don’t get how he’d help the Pacers.
Personally the Lakers don’t have enough good capital to warrant a trade of these 2 and to throw Turner in for Westbrook is ludicrous. Who really wants Lakers draft picks late in the first round as they’ll be competitive soon.
This trade would pull the Lakers out of the crap hole they’ve put themselves into and instantly put them in contention again and they know it.
THT would cost Indy about $10m less per year than Buddy, he’s much younger (only 21), has the length and athleticism to truly guard the 3/4 positions, and was college teammates with Haliburton.
Buddy is easily the better player right now, but THT does hold potential of being a defender on the wing, with relatively equal ball handling to Buddy and better driving.
It’s not ideal, but the assumption is that Indy would be getting some draft capital in a potential swap.
As for Russ, well, to me if you can get the 2 future 1sts unprotected, and any swaps, it’s probably worth dealing Buddy/Myles for Russ (if Myles won’t extend, that is). Getting unprotected picks is rare, and they usually hold value until they convey.
