This can be a totally different pool. Interesting.

With no three pointer. :D
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I really like the no MVPs 70s 80s, with or without the three pointer.

We probably did it, but how about active franchises that have never won a ring? The teams that have not won a NBA Championship are; the Pacers, Hornets, Nets, Grizzlies, Jazz, Suns, Pelicans, Clippers, Nuggets Magic and the Timberwolves.

How about players who have never won a ring (instead of franchises)? It works the other way around as well: Players who have won a ring.

How about this but with an And1? Build teams around modern stars with 70s/80s cast.

I wanted to see teams built around players like Gervin as the best player

I agree, and I don't think West is anymore dominant than LeBron or Mike in other games. Probably less.

I think in addition to being the best player, him having a beneficial style of play makes it tough.

With recent players like Jokic and Embiid this could be interesting.

Anyone interested in a speed draft? 15-30 seconds per pick, only active players.

Should use the ESPN fantasy draft engine, but we can choose any year of players, and have no FGA limit

I think we should switch it up. 70s/80s stars, with modern casts. Nobody knows roleplayers from the 70s...

This would make more sense to me.

The absence of a 3pt line kills it for me regardless of the supporting cast. I have no interest in drafting a bunch of behemoths constantly posting up in the paint.

I guess old school stars + modern role players + 3pt line would make a bit more sense to me, but I'd rather we switched to a completely different idea tbh.

Didn't see the part about the three-point line. Yeah I'm out either way in that case. I actually don't love the way the three has kind of taken over the modern game, but removing it all together is a bridge too far for me.

Are you rolling with an Old Franchises Draft next?

Lakers, Knicks, Celtics, Hawks, Pistons, Warriors, Kings, Wizards

How about a ABA franchise draft? You could choose any ABA season, as well as any season (through 2022) for the Nets, Nuggets, Spurs, and Pacers.

We've done single division drafts - this would be similar in depth.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Think even with 8 people the ones at the end have a hard time competing

We did young and middle child franchises.

Might as well go old.

But for an added twist I say no players post 1989-90

0.85 rule applies to everything pre-merger.

What about just doing the franchises who have never changed their name or city?

Boston Celtics
Chicago Bulls
Cleveland Cavaliers
Dallas Mavericks
Miami Heat
Milwaukee Bucks
Minnesota Timberwolves
New York Knicks
Orlando Magic
Phoenix Suns
Portland Trail Blazers
Toronto Raptors

Any group of teams is fine, but I'm leaning toward the players with no rings draft.
