With new guys it takes time to develop chemistry so yeah you are right at this time and it may take a couple years to get everyone on the same page. I sure hope not but it could.

One of the reasons San Antonio won for so many years is they allowed their team to gel and stay together over time. This team has a good 7 players worth of depth to use which is just shy of the required 8 that I would want to see for taking on teams like GSW in the play offs.

GSW has about an 8 or 9 man team as far as depth goes. They got Wiseman back but the jury is out on him.

Hardy Pinson Green Ntilikina and Kleeber need to show us something to compete for that 8th man.

Last year GSW missed Wiseman and had to use others like Looney who did well against us because we had Powell and Kleeber at center I would expect Wise to do better than Loon.

We have a true 7' center with McGee and a guy that is an almost all star level small ball center in Woods. Heck McGee played center for GSW and won a ring with them. Our undrafted center Bingham should have been Kofi Cockburn or Orlando Robinson who by the way did very well in summer league for Utah and Miami and they where who I wanted us to target in rookie free agency.

As teams cut down their rosters to 15 and sign guys to 2 ways they or other centers may be let go or they may get targeted by other teams to play for someone else. I would think that the Mavericks would anticipate their potential problems at center since they lack a back up for 34 year old J. McGee and since they intend to play Woods at PF with a lot of his minutes this is problematic and could lead to using Powell and Kleeber at the 5. In small ball situations it is okay to play Woods as a center but if you do that then you are going to possibly create an issue when larger teams refuse to go small. Truth be told PF is his real position.

Woods is a better option at PF than using DFS there but I understand you need scoring on the 2nd team and a leader for the bench is required.

Real centers can be invaluable against certain teams and I think as GSW integrates Wiseman more this is going to be obvious when we play them.

San Antonio was one the best team in the history... His dinasty was maked by players like Robinson-Duncan-Ginobili-Parker-Kawhi.
You are joking if you think you can compare them with our roster.

And not, our main problem isn't the 8th guy. Unfortunately.

We are a WCF best case team, and trust me that's very good.
A lot of teams are in worst situation.

But this year Dallas should have done the last step to contender and it's not happened.

not at all. The principle of developing chemistry and team bonding to know each others game is the topic and it is an important component of winning. San Antonio is the team I think of when I think of great chemistry and keeping players around longer.

We still need more help at center but if we see a youngster take the bull by the horns and get their game to the next level then that is also going to factor into our odds improving. mavs were not supposed to be this good this fast but they did it. I am thinking we have a greatly improved team this season even with Brunson leaving and I think they wanted him to leave and go get his $$ because he is getting way too much $$.

I have zero confidence in Powell to play at center and possibly Kleeber as well but at PF they can do semi decent.

Luka Woods and Dinwiddie are the main cogs. Your secondary group is DFS McGee Bullock and THJ.

I just hope another option develops out of the third tier guards/ wings to get us another shot creator. Green Hardy Pinson Ntilikina and Dorsey need to take it to the next level ASAP.

Kleeber Bertans and Powell at the 4/5 is not that great for backing up |Woods and JaValle we need to sign a 2 way on a center that was undrafted and that is a high priority and or sign another FA or trade to get it.

Miami signed Orlando Robinson to a 1 year deal worth over a million dollars so he will be a restricted FA in another year, Boy do they have a deep team and they added that 6'11" Nikola Jovic kid as well. That team has really improved to become a much better team in the east. I would say they are a threat to win it all if their new guys develop into rotation pieces.

They also have Adebayo who is 6'9" Dedmon and Yurtseven on contracts at center as well. That means they are going big to match up with Minn as we should be also. If Utah has Kofi and Tacko on their SL team and Walker Kessler was traded to them as part of the trade to MInn then they already have Udoka and so far they have not resigned Whiteside.

Meanwhile we have 4 6'10" guys who I would struggle to call centers and one true 7' center in McGee. Wood is a decent PF and some think he is a good center and with the ability to shoot 3's near 40% and rebounding at 10 per game he is a lot better at that than of any of the other 6'10 guys we have. If we can extend a spot to another center who do we have to pick from?

Whiteside if we want to beat Utah to it. Their leftovers are ok and we can probably do well if we can snag one. Miami saw promise in Orlando Robinson enough to cough up $$$ and maybe it is just so they keep him away from other teams like us who would have improved had we been more proactive to take on a more decent center. If McGee goes down with an injury these guys will have to play so it is either use them now to train them or we are totally screwed later on and can only use Powell and Kleeber when disaster happens. This lack of additional proven options also prevents us from using their expiring contracts to trade before the TDL for something more beneficial to the teams goals of winning NOW!!!!
