Can see the Nets FO telling KD he aint going anywhere and run it back with Simmons/Irving/Durant for the 22/23 season, possibly in order to raise value to the trade deadline.

Silver needs the Nets to send KD to where he wants for an underwhelming offer. Hear me out:
- Silver making noises signals the owners want some more controls in place to prevent someone signing a big deal then want out.
- right now the biggest thing like this is Harden. But the league has changed interpretations to penalise him and he’s made himself a meme with his efforts to get out.
- KD is a global icon and one of the faces of the league. If he pulls this off then it makes the contracts barely worth the paper they’re written on.
- NBAPA will focus on ensuring players get their bag, while NBA will focus on preventing players forcing trades - Silver knows these aren’t mutually exclusive.

TLDR: the NBA needs KD to force this issue & the Nets to relent. Otherwise they don’t have the level of precedent to ask for the changes they want to protect teams investing assets in securing players, only to have them demand out.

The Celtics appear no closer to acquiring Durant than others in discussions with the Nets, but Boston's ability to include All-Star forward Jaylen Brown as a centerpiece in offers does help to make the team formidable in its pursuit, sources said.

The Celtics consider All-NBA forward Jayson Tatum off limits in any trade talks, but Boston is able to construct a package for Durant that could include Brown and as many as three unprotected first-round picks (2025, 2027 and 2029) -- and two pick swaps (2024 and 2026). Brown, 25, has two years and $56 million left on his current contract.

Look at the words Woj used in the article haha. Feels like Woj just wanted some clicks and Nets leaked this because they want a better package

People still fall for it every time.

Haven’t we already confirmed that BKN can’t partake in pick swaps because of their prior deal with Houston?

For those who can't read Shams article. The Celtics offered Brown/White pick and the Nets counter offer was Brown/Smart/Role player plus picks. The Celtics are thinking about it. I think this has a real chance to happen and they meet somewhere in the middle.

For KD pipedreamers here. I'd be willing to do a bet that he is not gonna be on a Heat uniform

I don't see how KD's value goes up. He's coming off a 29.9 ppg/7.4 reb/6.4 ast season with a 63.4% true shooting percentage. And 6 months from now he's only going to be 6 months older.

This will be pretty bad for 17 year old Tatum's development with ball dominant kd. Brown/smart are huge key guys for Bostons success.

If KD is injured, theyd have a huge gaping hole for any novice team to get in and expose.

Read on Twitter

Here's the offer and counter.

The Celtics offered Brown, guard Derrick White and a draft pick to the Nets for Durant, sources said. The proposal was rejected, and Brooklyn has asked Boston — in any proposal — to include Brown, Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart, draft picks and potentially one more rotation player, those sources added. Currently, the Celtics are less inclined to include Smart along with multiple other player or pick assets, but the franchise is mulling over next steps on how to approach discussions.

I’m still interested in discussing avenues for such a potentially fruitful endeavor to be realized knowing that there are other avenues to improve the team should it ultimately not happen.

Not everything has to be extremes on here. It’s curious how so many posters want to take pride in how steadfast they are in positions on things that they have no control over. But at the same time rarely even recall all the times they’ve been so wrong. Just move on to the next showing of baseless bravado

They must really feel they won't be able to keep Jaylen Brown once his contract is up in 2 years. And they are looking to win now so it makes sense to go for KD.

Its kinda weird for them to throw this news. Brown was their finals best player. I'd be pissed if I was Brown.

I kinda hope Boston does this and we can reroute Jalen Brown here somehow.

The Celtics should have laughed and hung up.

Boston surely also doesn’t want Miami or Phoenix to get KD at a depressed price—especially Miami.

Jaylen Brown alone trumps all the trade offers from Phoenix, Miami, and Toronto. I'm liking Boston chances here.

It’s all about how they write what they write. See the difference between Shams reporting on a concrete offer/event vs Woj reporting on speculation of the most Boston could possible offer (inaccurately btw due to BKN not being able to do more pick swaps).

Plus there’s very often attempts at market manipulation with how these mouthpieces are mandated to report their nuggets if they want the tap to keep flowing

On vacation in the keys and just found out about Celts offering Jaylen Brown. All the nuggets are not countering that offer. Maybe i’ll run into a BK exec and i’ll sell our offer lol

I think KD would push back against landing in Boston. Up 3-1 against GS and loss. Next season he joined them in the west. I know it's different this time since it's a trade but Boston swept Brooklyn and made it finals. Next season KD lands there in east.

Woj/Shams have been accurate for the most with their trade rumors discussion in the past.

Kawhi trade, AD trade, Kyrie trade, Harden trade etc. These guys have real sources.

Short of throwing Bam at them, I don't see how we compete there if the Celtics are really willing to part with Brown, and I don't think we're willing to part with Bam. I guess we'll just have to run it back and wait for the next unhappy star.

Of course they do. They also pump out a lot of “good will” tweets to serve those sources to ensure the info keeps coming.
