DK Metcalf, Seahawks Agree Upon Three-Year, $72M Extension

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Jul 28, 2022 11:50 pm

DK Metcalf is signing a three-year, $72 million contract extension with the Seattle Seahawks, according to a source.

Metcalf will receive $58.2 million in guaranteed money and a $30 million signing bonus, the largest ever for a receiver.

He reported with the rest of the team Tuesday, then did not take part in any portion of Wednesday\'s first practice amid the contract negotiations.

The Jets we're never getting Metcalf. Deebo is great. But is a huge gamble with his durability.

The Jets had the opportunity to take the most dynamic WR in the draft & passed on him.

Spoiler:
It's Jameson Williams.

Yes, the DK door closed along with Deebo after the draft. The Jets are done making any moves at WR barring injury.

It's true that Jameson Williams was the most talented WR in the draft, but he's coming off a major injury, so wouldn't be ready until late this season, if at all. Then it's another huge IF, whether he returns to form AND elevates his game to the NFL level. The Jets weren't in a position to gamble at WR, IMO.

I'm just interested in how the Deebo situation will play out. Either he gets paid his 25ish million, he sits out, or he sucks it up and plays on his existing salary and the drama repeats itself next year.
