The Soto potential deal is likely holding up some other deals, think once that gets done, and the fallout from that, then the flood gates will open.

Would you do it?

The jays equivalent would have been? I dunno who is a rookie ss (C.J. Abrams,) but Espinal or Biggio?
Robert Hassell III equivalent to Orelvis Martinez
James Wood equivalent to Ricky Tiedemann
Jarlin Susana equvalent to CJ Van Eyk or Adam Kloffenstein

Something like that? Or maybe add in Bichette, and put up less prospects?

Yes, I'd have done it.

I think your comparisons are a bit off. By nature, they just don't line up neatly enough to compare apples-to-apples. Hassell was their #1 prospect, I believe.

Me too... if it were for that package. But I don't think they are anywhere close to equivalent. And you forgot to add the equivalent for Mackenzie Gore. We couldn't have come close to that package.

That package is nowhere near comparable.

The package that the Padres gave up is actually pretty unprecedented.

Totally forgot about MacCkenzie, who would that be equivalent to? Pearson or likely Moanah?

A player-for-player comparison really isn't possible; we just don't have their depth of prospects. But in terms of trade value, it's Bichette + Moreno + ??.

Gore is hurt but he was a former uber-prospect who was finally starting to look like a potential front-end starter this year before his elbow flared up.
CJ Abrams and Robert Hassell are ~Top 25 type prospects. Guys like Biggio or Espinal don't carry anywhere near that type of value.
James Wood is a potential Top 10 or better prospect in all of baseball in a year's time. His upside is massive, and he's mashing right now in the minors.
Jarlin Susana is nothing like Van Eyk or Kloffenstein - he's one the biggest risers in Complex ball and is sitting ~97-100+ at 18 years old with a 6'6 frame.

It's 5 guys that all have high-end or better upside. A few of those guys have "superstar" upside. There isn't anything in the Jays system that would compare to that.
