Was listening to this podcast and they selected their choices for first time likely all stars. They go and talk about Anthony Edwards, Shai, mention Cade and Mobley.

then at the end, the other guys selects Scottie as his 'dark horse' pick. bruh, why does he need to be a dark-horse he won ROY over the other two for FFS lol.

I think it comes to opportunity to have the ball more for Cade and Mobley. That's what probably goes into the train of thought. Scottie is competing for touches with the other 4 starters.

If Scottie somehow comes back with a 36% 3-Point shot he’ll be an All-Star this year!

Nurse was saying they didn't run any plays for him that game and he still scored 28 and that was great. That doesn't mean they never run plays for him.

I keep saying Scottie needs to be more aggressive. I didn’t like the last game when he only has seven cracks at it. I liked the game before when he had 19. I want this guy to take his chances and put the pressure on people and go to the basket more and shoot more.

"I'm disappointed Scottie’s not taking three or four threes a game," Nurse said back on November 18. "He can do it."

“I want him to get the reps,’’ Nurse said from Dallas during his pre-game Zoom call with reporters. “I want him to get as many minutes and as many attempts as he can get up.”

“With all of his offensive stuff, he's still learning what he's going to do,” Nurse said of Barnes. “Seventeen shots in a game are quite a few, and I love it, but they're not enough.”

There are tons more out there from Nurse's post game pressers.

Even Scottie's trainer Brian Macon said the same thing recently that Scottie didn't take opportunities to score when he had the ball. He'd look to pass and reset the offense because that's how he is very team first. It's an amazing trait but he can be more aggressive.

Very doable if they are open 3s and the volume isn't more than 3.5 to 4 per game. I doubt he is shooting 3s off the dribble like Tatum in year 2.

Too bad his muscle frame is like in that Jordan Clarkson, Jamal Crawford mold and not more robust like an Anthony Edwards, or someone similar.

Feel like if he weighed like 20-30lbs more he would be amazing. He might get there one day but I doubt it. I think he could get to like Bradley Beal’s weight eventually but that’s about it.

Lavine makes it work, he was even thinner than Green coming into the league.

He should have put on more weight for his sophomore but there have been star players with similar frames in their early stages

Jalen being so bad defensively is more of a concern than his weight lol. For someone so explosive I’m surprised by his lack of lateral quicks.

In terms of defense, versatility, and durability, give me a 6’7+ guy with long arms with Scottie Barnes or Paul pierce level athleticism (great but not freaky) over a 6’4 underweight guy with a modest wingspan who's one of the most explosive. 10 times out of 10. NBA history and what's successful kind of speaks for itself.

i honestly don't know why players go to pro runs other than the rare time to "stretch their legs", so to speak. they're almost always playing below nba competition and nobody really tries, so it's like a glorified pickup game. there's little structure and it's mostly all 10 players taking their turns to go 1v1 against their defender.

personally i think players would be much better off using those days to work individually on their skills, but that's just me. like you pointed out scottie was clearly playing below his ability (at like 30%?) so i don't know how that benefits him in any way.

Probably the same way light sparring benefits fighters, it allows you to work on your skills against resistance and try things that you might not necessarily do in high level competition.
