Ok so In 3 years with the Knicks Randle averages 44.3% fgs , 21.2 ppg , 9.9 rpg and you can’t build around him but you fail to realize Knicks have NOTHING BETTER.
Then and now he has been the bar for player talent which the Knicks can barely match or exceed .
The big plan is to overpay for a guy who worse defensively and shooting the same percentage from the field .

Even so Julius is not even a wrench in that plan . Get yourself some better players before you turn up your nose acting like this guy ain’t good enough for YOUR team .

forget the individual stats, here's the stone cold reality. donovan mitchell as a primary scorer has multiple winning seasons under his belt. julius randle as a high usage player has produced losing seasons 2/3 times. if we acquire mitchell, especially because we'd be pairing him with brunson in the backcourt, randle doesn't naturally slide to "third best player" on the floor. his game is ball-dominant, or at least he insists upon playing that way, so he is not a fit with our new best players and should be moved for that reason. i am not one of those bent out of shape people saying "julius randle sucks", but i do think that replacing him as our best player is a good thing and that we have enough evidence to know we shouldn't gamble on him taking the adjustment down the totem pole well on the team he signed to lead

Randle will either accept his new role as a 16 PPG non-featured player and have the occasional huge games or he will wither away before our eyes and sulk himself out of the starting line-up. His choice.

So anyway...

I am under the impression that training camp is only two weeks away. I cannot confirm this but, I read somewhere that camp usually starts 3 weeks before pre season. Is that accurate? This DM trade needs to end one way or another. Trying to gauge how much more torture will be involved. I really want to get passed all of this and start looking at the roster going into the season. We may even see more trades before all is said and done. Like... I'm truly hoping the Sun's make a push for Randle. Imagine a world where last Summer didn't happen. We got Brunson/DM and Obi got more playing time.

Burks/Noel/Kemba are already gone. Randle and Evan are the only two left to go. I wouldn't mind keeping Evan at this point but, Randle can go. This would make me worship this FO!!

Depends on how he gets that PPG. He can get 25 if he’s doing it efficiently. He really needs to recommit to winning basketball. I’d even venture to say humble basketball.

If this trade is going to happen, and I believe it will, I’d expect it to go through no later than two weeks from now.

It will probably be in about a week in order to give the players and the coaching staff a few days before reporting to camp.

we saw how he reacted to that already this past year. we were winning almost every single game with a pretty distributed scoring load among rj, randle, and our 2 new starters. randle started pouting while we were still winning, he just didn't like how we were winning. i can't see him suddenly being happy deferring to mitchell and brunson

I go at you because I think your takes on some things are off the wall but, I can't fuq with your fandom. You just love you some Julius Randle though and you hate Mitch!

Julius is going to have to change his role. Thibs is going to have to make that happen though. It's not gonna work running things through him with Jalen here and possibly DM. I don't personally see him doing well without the ball in his hands. It really comes down to how Thibs uses him. I like him as a center in some lineups. Him with RJ and Mitch is a bit of a problem.

He does not average 25 PPG on a DM/Brunson team. That was when he was the featured player. 16 PPG is a good average for a secondary scorer. If Obi is on the roster Randle will also play fewer minutes.

Will he play team ball and off the ball with humility? That’s not his style. If he does I’m sure we’ll all cite him for good behavior.

Keep in mind one thing about Randle. Last season he would have epic meltdowns and when we won games he was more interested in his pissy grievances than in celebrating his team’s victory or honoring the success of his other teammates. He was worse than moody. He was profoundly selfish.

1st Preseason game is Oct 04
https://www.nba.com/knicks/news/new-york-knicks-announce-2022-2023-preseason-schedule
That's 39 days

I guess we could try to figure out the start of camp by guessing backward. Sept 15? Sept 10? Sept 19?

First regular season game is the 19th, home opener is the 21st

That's the Knicks first game. Pre season starts on September 30th. Do camps start at different times? I also read camp usually ends September 28th. Not sure how covid has impacted this but, they are trying to get back to normal schedules.

As I sat back and thought about this... I wonder was it Leon's goal all along to get both Brunson & Mitchell to pair with Randle. Why else take Randle along with during the playoffs. Why else trade out of the first round? It just all makes sense looking back... now how he knew he would even have the opportunity is beyond me but I'm truly looking forward to a legit backcourt. Something we haven't had since the Houston/Sprewell days.

THIS!

I don't know what Leon's goal may have been all along, but I always laugh when posters criticize a move by the front office just because it doesn't make sense TO THEM at the time. Chess is about thinking several moves in advance. It's very possible the FO has a plan that they're implementing one piece at a time. It's still funny though how some fans actually expect trades/drafts to be made in public and for them to know every detail every step of the way.

Media/journalist have a job to do, and one of those jobs is to get eyes on their story, they also have sources some are higher up in the organization maybe even the gm, some could be the trainer, they hear things and report them..if they get viewers they have done their job, they report what is told to them, and many times what is told to them isn’t accurate on purposes because the team is acting in its best interest

No way they planned ahead for DM. They didn't even plan ahead for Brunson who they wanted a year ago.

They had a terrible summer last year and it cost them to erase it. They handled this summer completely different as a result it seems. Like a different FO entirely.

DM fell into their lap if they get him.

They don't all have sources. Most of them throw shyt at the wall. They flip flop. They act like they know things that they don't. More often than not they are wrong. Woj and Shams seem to get direct info to a point. Seems like Woj has an upper hand on everyone for whatever reason.

I just hate the whole... according to sources nonsense. Quote someone at the very least even if they remain anonymous.

I guess it's just up to the fans to sift through the BS and not react to much of it. That's all. The league needs to address this IMO and change the way teams are covered. Probably won't happen though.
