I think it's playstyle. We haven't had anyone as big and beefy as Baynes since 2018. Whiteside, Howard, and Cousins are not quite "all of Australia", but they aren't playing any 4 either, and Blake gives that 4/5, (somewhat) switchable versatility, while *also* being able to fit in/contribute MUCH more to a ball-motion offense than those guys.

Yeah. The hope is Griffin gives them what Baynes gave them a few years ago.

I think I wasn't clear -- I don't think Blake is a big like Baynes/Whiteside/Howard/Cousins -- I don't think BOS wants that type of guy.
Blake is a more versatile, possibly-mobile 'big' in the style of Horford/Grant/maybe Rob -- that's their type, and they did great with it last year.

A motivated Blake who thinks he can win is a lot different than the one you saw the past couple years.

He may have seemed to get cooked by brown, but he nailed some shots and was playing with the most passion of the entire nets squad when he was out there last year, and he knew he was losing. That's pure pride.

Expect to see a different Blake if he's in one piece for the playoffs.

How many former #1 picks have played for the Celtics at any point in their career?

Griffin, Kyrie, Shaq, Olowokandi, Walton. Who else? I'm not that old to recall any more. Guys from the 50s/60s/70s?

I agree. Now I’m not expecting some career resurgence but I think he’s gonna be solid for us. Come in the game take some charges, bang with the other teams big and Make some really good passes. Will provide us with good minutes during the regular season.

He’s also now on a team with an infrastructure in place that can make up for his lack of defense even tho he’s shown he’s actually able to be a decent defender against 5s. Also think he’s a good locker room guy and the fact he’s a former superstar whose a willing role player really emphasizes that.

Completely agree with this...Blake was the only Net playing with passion, (well him and Bruce Brown--who left as soon as he could)--he kept them in it for awhile.

Blake looks like he's shed some 20 lbs since he last played. The loss in weight hopefully reduces the burden on his knees and helps him regain some of the mobility, quickness & lift that he'd lost due to injuries over the years.

If Nash hadn't buried him on the bench post-ASB, he would've been in better conditioning and could've been a bigger thorn during the first-round series vs. the Nets.

I don't trust pictures or my fan lying eyes on weight stuff, because of the seasons I spent telling myself Shaq lost weight or looked to be in better shape.

With that said, Blake is in the best shape he's been in, even when he was putting up 50! Is green slimming?

Just watched five minutes of Blake’s best dunks so I’m pretty ready for the season right now.

Wait ‘til next year when we have a front line of Al, Danilo and Blake with Rob and Grant to fill in.
