If Bam wins DPOY and MIP, he would basically have to be an MVP finalist IMO.

He's already near DPOY level so that jump is minor (or he would become just far and above next best defender). The other side of the ball he was 19.1 / 10.1 / 3.4 already. MIP takes significant numbers improvement usually. If he is 25 / 12 / 5 (type of offensive improve I think he would need for MIP) and DPOY, he is right there for MVP

It was grim, MWP. I'm not sure what the solution is here. I'm not sure we can afford to have him in the rotation if he's going to be a sieve on defense AND not be able to hit the 3 at a good clip.

I didn't really get to sit down and watch the game, but did have it on...anyone else get impression Miami was moving at practice speed in parts of the game? Did not feel like an actual game from what I was able to see.

I do like the Bam/Yurt look, hope they can find a way to make that work.

Need a clip of like 3:30 to 1:30 late in the 3rd. Bam impacted every play on both sides, he was taking over but then him and Herro were pulled. 5 points 2 steals and an assist

I dont know whats going on with Duncan, he is doing too much in the offense for my liking. I noticed that there was rarely any DHO ran yesterday. He had to create the motion to get free and he looked sloppy doing it. That should improve as be gets more run, but whats concerning is his shooting is really off even when he got open. Also as mentioned he is doing too much dribble drive for my liking, all I saw was tuen overs, and fails at the rim. We have better players who can convert at a higher clip for him to be doing so many of those plays. Is it because he shot is busted that he is trying to force other ways to score, I don't know.

The second quarter lineup of Garrett, Strus, Duncan, Highsmith and Dedmon was tough to watch. No ball handler on the court. Obviously Spo giving guys opportunity to handle the ball that normally will not. And it showed none of them (Garrett, Strus, Duncan or Highsmith) are ball handlers. Garrett can't run point at an NBA level. Duncan still can't stop fouling. Strus and Highsmith showed nothing. Dedmon is worrying me. He looks like he is not enthusiastic about hooping.

The only interesting take in that lineup that I can take a interest in was Duncan. He didn't make his shots. But Duncan looks stronger. He was driving to the basket with more control and strength than iv ever seen him. Out of all of them he was the only one attacking the rim. Actually draw a foul and got to the line on one of his penetrations. Not confident its something to bank on but something I will look for the rest of preseason. Even thou Duncan missed his 3s. His form looked tight. His 3 pt shot selection was not good, took contested 3 pointers. Needs to take better shot selection.


Disappointed in Strus not helping Garrett ball handle. Just kept running to the corner. An opportunity missed by Strus. I know I joke about 3Hammy thinking Strus has noteworthy ball handling skills. But he hasn't shown much ball handling skills yet in NBA games. He showed decent skills in the summer league a year ago. I do want him to be able at least help with the ball handling. I do think Strus can handle the ball a little to help set up offense. Like Duncan, defenders do not expect Strus to dribble. He did catch the defense sleeping on a fastbreak. But I would like to see him contribute on offense more as a ballhandler besides trying to mimic Duncan offense.

Highsmith looks like a mediocre player all around. Not sure what his strengths are besides an occasional 3.

Something I wish Strus and Duncan learn how to do. Its obvious defenses over play Duncan and Strus 3 point shooting. They should learn how to draw shooting fouls from the defense over playing the three. Take advantage of the defender momentum to draw a foul. Which gives them an easy 3 shot free throw and force the defender to give them more space on their shots. Something they can learn from watching Reggie Miller.
