Οne of those draft analysts said he was talking to various NBA execs, and one of them said that the only way VW doesn't go #1 is if a team does the background checks and they find that he has committed murder LOL

I never wish anyone to go through ACL injury + rehab, even as an athlete it is a year of changing your entire life to get back to an athletic level you may not quite reach again. The pain from the injury is severe in most cases and the inconvenience you face is really worse. Playing it off like you'll be fine really shows how your mental disconnect in how severe the injury really is, even with modern medicine.

The only thing being downplayed in this thread is how far of a gap there is between Victor and the rest of the draft. To think he wouldn't go #1 because of an ACL injury is simply delusional. Scoot has a chance to be a star, Victor has a chance to be an all time great.

No one wants to go through an ACL tear. No one. Ask Derrick Rose. There is nothing delusional about that. And nobody here is downplaying Victor's abilities. Is Victor your God? You're really mad that he's not our God.

Well, do you really want Victor to tear his ACL?

Weakest trolling i've seen in a minute.

Both of you please let it go and don't derail the thread with this argument. -b

Even then, I'd question why the victim made BigDVic kill him.

Was probably necessary.

Thabust was straight garbage.

The only bust potential he has is his height is starting to veer into the negative territory with how players legitimately over 7'2" tend to be quite injury prone.

For his sake I hope it's not the case but we saw more recently the issues Kristaps Porzingis had and while the hype wasn't the same he was also "the unicorn" giant 7 footer who moved like a wing and had a smooth shot.

He looks light but he certainly looks like he has a better frame than Chet. Does everyone more or less agree with that?

I only watched that Ignite game. Is he always that slow moving his feet on D? He got blown by with ease. Of course he made up for it somewhat with gogo gadget arms, but I'd still downgrade him to #1 consensus pick*

If a 4 time MVP and 4 Finals MVP with the most points in NBA history is a bust... then there are two or three guys in history that weren't busts.

LeBron has a negative record in the finals... it says he wasn't on the favored side more often than not. Only time he lost and should have won was 11, but also has a win in 16 when he should have lost. So it kind of evens things.

LOL.

Guy was getting Magic and Jordan comparisons and instead ended up a career journeyman who's 22-33 in the Finals. Not living up to the expectations is textbook bustdom.

I mean even Kwame Brown managed to score 4000 points in the NBA.

And the comparisons were and still are fair. Magic hasn't much of an argument left, against MJ you can argue a case for both.

Kwame Brown was a #1 pick, so with that comes certain expectations. But not being in the GOAT conversation isn't what makes a #1 pick a bust.

You have Kwame or Bennet as busts, Blake Griffin isn't in the top players ever conversation but I can't consider him a bust. Played all-star level for a while, has had a long enough basketball career...

Not every #1 pick is gonna be an all time great, and that's fine.

Any Number 1 pick making multi all star games shoudl definitely be considered as a very good selection

But, there was this article or interview can't remember which was describing that he has world class support, and everything they do is aimed towards the prevention of injuries, they're teaching him how to land, how to take a fall, long sessions if stretching before and after exercise, how to maintain his posture etc. Plus they say he has intentionally not lifted a weight in his life yet, which I thought is bizarre and no idea what it's supposed to achieve but there you go.

I am 100% not comparing their body types obviously and it's a different sport but I think Tom Brady only using bands his entire career has proven there is an alternate way. When players talk about hitting Brady they say it feels very different, maybe there is some inspiration in that, letting him grow out before he becomes absolutely stiff?

Poor Banchero. I haven't heard a word about him since before Wembanyama's first game against the Ignite. He's going to be the most ignored #1 pick ever!

That’s fine if it ends up the same as LeBron and Dwight in back to back drafts. Dwight was pretty much ignored because he was the first pick the year after LeBron and people thought Okafor would be better, and he ended up having a HOF career himself. We will take it as Magic fans, less pressure.

Wembanyama is the real deal. I would have had doubts about the kid if he was terrible on defense. Alas, he's great defensively.

There is a chance he can be a bust though. Every prospect has a bust factor. The only reason he can be a bust is injury. He carries a high risk given his height and body build. That's it, which is covered thoroughly on Youtube and here. Despite that, Wemba's game should translate to the NBA very well.

Wemba is a lock for number one pick (duh) as long as he doesn't get an ACL tear (before the draft) to greatly lessen his chances of being number one.

His team playing right now, box score, will update final statlines later. He is having a rough game it seeems, that bad shooting is back, games not over though.

The French league is (at least where I live) free to watch with league official streaming service LNB TV. Started watching at halftime and Victor singlehandedly bringing his team back to the game with some crazy highlight dunks.

He basically scored 7 points right after I said his bad shooting is back

Outside of Terry Tarpey and Wemby, I do not recognize a single name from either team though.

Victor was a big part of Metropolitans comeback, and win after overtime. 94-89.

35:30 minutes : 24 points (8/19 FG : 2/7 3PT : 6/8 FT), 9 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 blocks.
Third in efficiency rating on his team, but best +/- in the game +17.
I bet someone will post highlights.
