One can debate what qualifies as restricting freedom of speech - is it imprisonment or de-platforming or something else. What matters IMO is that he's being significantly punished for his speech.
I'm not even condoning or promoting the content or message of the documentary but man... people are crucifying him. I think we take our freedoms for granted sometimes.
Exactly who is restricting his speech? His Twitter account is still up; he wasn't silenced by any entity, nor is he banned from speaking to the media.
It's mindboggling to me that we live in an era where people feel attacked if they’re held accountable for their actions.
Kyrie explained himself and stressed that he wasn't promoting hate or antisemitism. He just posted a link to an interesting documentary. He then stayed quiet and tried to move on. But then the "sports media" went on a witch hunt and whipped up a big controversy. They trashed Kyrie, the Brooklyn Nets, Adam Silver, and the NBA and pressured them to "do something". It got so bad that Kyrie and the Nets thought it was worth ONE MILLION DOLLARS to try and appease the crazed mob. Did it work? Nope. You guys are still trashing him.
And you're doing all this without being able to even explain what was antisemitic about the film or what Kyrie said. You are all being gaslit and radicalized.
Interesting documentary? Have you seen it? I've seen the documentary, and it's very extreme. I'm not going to go in-depth about the film's significant antisemitism rooted in conspiracy and lies, but they can easily be
looked up for those who are curious.
And Kyrie didn't simply post a tweet, either. He defended and endorsed the film's points in his responses to the media and actually believes he's a Black Hebrew Israelite ("How can I be antisemitic when I know where I come from?"). Defiantly leaving his post up is a clear sign of his public endorsement.
Back in 2016, Kyrie claimed to be a descendant of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Now, he's a Black Hebrew Israelite that posts conspiratorial racist propaganda on social media and feigns ignorance when he's confronted with consequences from his corporate employer, all the while proclaiming he's a "beacon of light" that "respects all life."
He's a narcissist and a hypocrite. His actions are truly indefensible.
