Can't really blame him, but I agree that it's probably better to put it to bed. That being said he needs to play like an MVP now for us to win, so it'll be hard for him to switch that mode off. Embiid is a better defender when he's more offensively engaged. IT's just facts and a lot of stars are like that. Luka and Giannis are in the lead righ tnow for MVP along with probably Mitchell, Tatum and Morant. Embiid can easily sneak in there with a nice 6-7 game win streak and numbers similar to last year. As Morey has said, he believe this is a chip team with MVP embiid. MVP Embiid is 30 point Embiid unfortunately. As much as it must suck for Harden he really needs to be taking a back seat and letting Jo and Maxey shine. That's on Doc though.

If Harden takes a back seat, then we might as well play Melton over him because he’s not that good as a spot up shooter and he’s not a good defender.

Between Harden and Embiid, I’d rather have Embiid taking the back seat. And then I’d give him FULL 100% accountability on defense but it’s not like he’s gonna be Ben Wallace for we’d still give him his ISO possessions, specially down the stretch.

I watch the Jazz play a lot because im following Walker Kessler, and they’re winning because the guys play collectively (except for Sexton) that you can see a joy with them playing as a team.

Looking at the stat sheet its quite obvious whats the problem here. You get harden, jojo and maxey getting their numbers but the entire team just plays poorly.

This team just has to decide. Championship or MVP. I think its that simple. And I’ll know the answer to that as long as we play poor defense and Embiid gets close to his 30 pts a game average (not necessarily this game).

I just think if you want him engaged on D he needs to be engaged on O. He was a great defender in the playoffs last year. He will bring it in not worried about him. Bigger issue is the bench, Tucker, House, Harrell. Spent all this money and they've fallen flat on their face.

Embiid has already decided. And we waste another year. I think you have to explore all options next summer.

Personally, i dont know the real story behind so i’d just be guessing. And players wont tell you the truth. But I find the narrative partly true. I noticed the ball gets to Embiid too late when we play with Harden, that it mostly ends up as end of shotclock possessions.

Maybe that was what Doc and Harden talking about when they got mic’d before the season began

If there is any truth to this which there might be I think harden will probably elsewhere next season. The front office in Morey as much as he loves harden would choose the younger Embiid everyday.

i’d be calling for a complete rebuild if we dont make it atleast the finals. There’s just no way to win with this set-up.

As in trade Embiid? We trade him and it's a huge step back, even if you are able to get a haul, becuase Harden is aging and guard, and Maxey is still raw and a guard. Need an elite SF and still need an excellent big. Embiid is still giong to be a top 5 player in the league for the next 3 years. Just because Doc is an idiot, doesn't mean that we need to trade Embiid. Morey knows that championshps take superstars, and Embiid is one for the next 3-5 years. We've shot a lot our shots, but I dunnot, they definitely will get rid of Doc first before trading Embiid. No way they keep Doc and trade Jo.

I dont think we should trade Embiid this season.

But if we flopped this year? I think we should EXPLORE trading him.

just think about it..

You’ll never get this much talent while Embiid is already on a clear decline with his athleticism, durability and conditioning.

You’ll never reach this level of talent anymore with this team.

What I learned from 2014 with this Embiid experience is its just too hard to win with him. And its a lot worse when he puts his mission of winning the MVP ahead of winning the championship.

Yes, Embiid is a top 5 player. Against regular season games against DeAndre Ayton, Vucevic, Cody Zeller or Miles Plumlee? Definitely yes.

But top 5 player, every game? Most games? Games when it matters? I dont know. I can’t say the same thing to Doncic,Bron, KD, Giannis, Steph, Luka or Jokic. I know what to expect from those guys almost every game.

Oh, and players love to play with them for they make their teammates better. This is why they dont need that much talent compared to Biid in order to win.

Tobias has been playing his ass off. Really the only consistent player on the team through 10 games. Huge respect to him for accepting his role and putting in the work. He still falls asleep a little too often on defense tho.

This was a game that clearly highlighted Maxey’s weaknesses as a playmaker. He doesn’t really know how to play with pace, keep his dribble alive, or find the pressure points of a defense. He’s put up some awful shots the past two games and needs to learn from this game film ASAP.

Vintage Embiid game with good effort, screening, and foul grifting. He was settling for jumpers and looked out of sorts a bit but that’s to be expected first game back.

You've no idea what you are talking about, trading Embiid is blasphemy, he is the best player we've ever had since Iverson.
Embiid is AMAZING and it's a shame fans are here parroting myths easily refuted.

Embiid was the player that scored the most points in this game, this has to account for something, the goal is to score more points than the opponent, and Embiid is one of the best players at that. He also was the only player in the game to get 10+ rebounds and 5+ assists, which speaks volumes about how complete and versatile he is.

Wow, this much negativity after beating the best record in the West last night? Loved seeing Jo and Niang, plus Toby, show a little chemistry. And Jo was definitely punishing folks at the defensive backboard. If this is signs of him mending, and not one last ditch effort before he totally burns out (and I’m betting on the former) than we’re back to enough talent to build around, and most of that talent may already be on the roster, if it can be properly deployed.

We’ve gotta bench Shake man he’s soooo bad. I’d rather give those minutes to Springer at this point lol at least we know he can defend. Shake is providing nothing so I’d probably go with Furk/Springer as a situational offense/defense duo.

Surprised with how terrible he's been. Really thought he'd fill that 4th guard role nicely, but he's not exactly capitalizing on the opportunity. Feel it's only a matter of time before Doc goes back to Furky.
