Ultimately this falls on Glenn being able to integrate all the pieces. And we already know he cannot do it.
Can't really blame him, but I agree that it's probably better to put it to bed. That being said he needs to play like an MVP now for us to win, so it'll be hard for him to switch that mode off. Embiid is a better defender when he's more offensively engaged. IT's just facts and a lot of stars are like that. Luka and Giannis are in the lead righ tnow for MVP along with probably Mitchell, Tatum and Morant. Embiid can easily sneak in there with a nice 6-7 game win streak and numbers similar to last year. As Morey has said, he believe this is a chip team with MVP embiid. MVP Embiid is 30 point Embiid unfortunately. As much as it must suck for Harden he really needs to be taking a back seat and letting Jo and Maxey shine. That's on Doc though.
If Harden takes a back seat, then we might as well play Melton over him because he’s not that good as a spot up shooter and he’s not a good defender.
Between Harden and Embiid, I’d rather have Embiid taking the back seat. And then I’d give him FULL 100% accountability on defense but it’s not like he’s gonna be Ben Wallace for we’d still give him his ISO possessions, specially down the stretch.
I watch the Jazz play a lot because im following Walker Kessler, and they’re winning because the guys play collectively (except for Sexton) that you can see a joy with them playing as a team.
Looking at the stat sheet its quite obvious whats the problem here. You get harden, jojo and maxey getting their numbers but the entire team just plays poorly.
This team just has to decide. Championship or MVP. I think its that simple. And I’ll know the answer to that as long as we play poor defense and Embiid gets close to his 30 pts a game average (not necessarily this game).
