Credit to Ime Udoka for handing the keys of the team to Marcus smart and trusting him with it. Marcus playing like an all-star. So amazing to watch his growth this season.

Wouldn’t want any other PG leading the charge!

Barring injury, feel like the Celtics PG situation is locked up for the next (5) years.

Brooklyn could offer Kyrie + (2) number 1’s for Smart and I’d pass. :)

How do you guys feel? Is there any other PG you’d rather have?

Steph Curry comes to mind. :)

Insightful, meaty interview although Ben tagged the wrong Twitter handle.

Assuming that most of those lobs were to Rob. Smart definitely does a good job of finding him for those lobs.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Since I have no access to the article, I will just assume that the player in the photo won the poll and the haters don't understand what's going on.

But Smart won the coaches’ DPOY voting by a much wider margin than he won the media’s DPOY voting. In The Athletic’s anonymous coaches poll, nine of the 16 respondents selected Smart as their first-place choice, while former Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert and Milwaukee Bucks guard Jrue Holiday received three first-place votes apiece.

In the media voting, Smart earned 37 of a possible 100 first-place votes.

The Athletic’s poll yielded another gargantuan takeaway: There is a significant discrepancy between how the coaches view Phoenix Suns wing Mikal Bridges compared to other players and how the media views Bridges. While the coaches think highly of Bridges — naming him to their All-Defensive Second Team in The Athletic’s poll — none of the 16 coaches we polled named him as one of their top-three choices for Defensive Player of the Year.

The Athletic all defense first team is smart, jrue, draymond, giannis and gobert

“ Our respondents chose Smart unanimously.

“Just the power of his ‘winningness,’ so much of it comes out on the defensive end: guarding anybody at any time, always coming up with the loose ball, always coming up with the rebound,” an Eastern Conference assistant coach said. “Those winning plays would show up on defense. I feel like it’s been an infectious thing that’s grown throughout the team in a good way. He’s built the culture there in a lot of ways and gotten the more talented players to follow him.”

“I completely get Marcus Smart as Defensive Player of the Year,” an East assistant coach told us. “I suppose analytically it still favors the big guys, because it seems like they impact the score so much more in their time on the floor versus their time off. So in that regard, I’m sure there’s still some support for a Gobert (kind of player). But Smart, he makes everybody else be better defenders around him with just the power of his leadership and his energy and his constant, crazy diving on the floor. Whatever it is, I think he’s built a culture of defense there. I think he’s been the driving force behind it. …

“We’d have instances when we’d play him (when) he’d hear the call and as we’re coming down into the halfcourt, he’d run and switch with somebody at the elbow so he could guard the guy that was in the action.”

is this the general Marcus talk thread? I've never pictured him as a particularly high assists guy, since he'd settled in around 6apg. But his recent binge has me wondering if there's a version of Smart that averages like 9 and 9 -- that plus key-ed in defense would be amazing. Also currently attempting a shade under 10fg/game https://www.espn.com/nba/player/stats/_/id/2990992/marcus-smart
