If Berhalter wants to come out with a draw, he needs to be left in Qatar, can replace Felix Sanchez for the next four years with the Qatari NT.

At this point, I'd say Joaquin Caparrós is a better manager sheesh

Berhalter should've never made it to Qatar

I had a chance to watch the Iran/Wales game with some legitimate experts in my family regarding Iranian Soccer (Members of the press, players that played U21, former coaches, etc), and we talked briefly about the U.S game, in terms of matchups, tactics, etc. The popular opinion is that McKennie, not Pulisic, is the most dangerous U.S player matchup wise against Iran.

Wow, as an Iranian, that interviewer is a piece of a ****. Props to Adams for keeping it classy

Edit: Though the mispronouncing thing is extremely frustrating, especially when members in the press/announcers do it. There was no need to be a dick about it though

By the way, if you are a Spanish speaker, it is much better to see the game on telemundo.

I am completely blah with the Fox commentary during the game.

Curious to see how emotions end up affecting the game. Most of the Iranian experts/fans I've talked to believe that it'll be in Iran's advantage due to the level of motivation and energy they expect them to bring...I'm personally not so sure. I think U.S has a good chance to strike early until nerves and emotions settle.

9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

The point of having games at the same time is to avoid rigged outcomes.

For example, let's suppose team A plays late; they know that if they win, they will face the 2nd position of group B, but if they draw, they will face the 1st position of the same group.

Obviously, in this scenario all team B games have already happened.

Now let's suppose it's better for them to face the 1st position (from the other group), they match up better with them and it's a weaker adversary as well.

So they go into the match knowing, in full advance, what result they need to have to face the adversary they want to face.

Hope I gave you a clearer picture, Grey. Cheers.

Why on earth would the US want to come out with a draw.

That's so dumb. There's nobody thinking like that, and if they are, they are either completely **** brain dead or completely afraid of competition. I don't think that's true of either.

Now Iran, sure, they'd be very happy with a draw. They'd advance.

I mean, with this XI, wouldn't doubt if Berhalter saw it that way to keep chipping away at US respect on the national stage

If he plays for a draw, there's going to be massive calls for him to be fired, and rightfully so.

It's one thing if he puts out a crappy lineup and they draw and lose, but if the tactics look out there and they aren't attacking and wasting time, he will get crucified.

I also get that the US may not go out guns a blazing given that they just need to win 1-0 compared to by 3 goals or whatever, but it's pretty obvious when a team is playing for a draw, and everyone and their mother will see it.

You don’t play to just play.
