Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

**** it. This deserved its own thread. After the Ime fiasco and the uncertainty of installing a new young coach, this accomplishment is something to celebrate. Pay homage to Mazzulla Ball.

Has there ever been someone with an interim tag to win coach of the month? It wouldn’t shock me if there was one, but I expect it would be someone who took over a talented team mid season and had them go on a run, rather than someone who had to take over a team prior to the season

There are probably others but only Nate McMillan comes to mind (March 2021). As to Joe’s specific case, no idea. Probably not considering he was promoted on the eve of training camp. That alone is unusual.

Good call. Kerr went on leave before the season for back surgery. They went on a long-ass win streak to start the season. He won CotM for November but the wins didn't get credited to him.

I still don't like our defense compared to last year (I'm hoping things change when ROB is back and the season gets more tight), but if you look through the game-threads of last year's finals you'll find me very heatedly writing how offense was really bad for a championship contender. I'm glad Mazzulla has playing them unselfish moving basektball.

Derrick White now looks like a proper player. I was sure last year he was a rythm & motion player and our heavily centered ISO offense wasn't doing him any favors
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

Future GM. The two coaches he lobbied for have been coach of the year candidates or at least so far.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

The Miami Heat is very good team that knows how to be a menace to the Celtics. Their ability has to do with Eric Spoelstra coaching skills; he has an uncanny ability to coach his team with precision and adjusting defensively. The Celtics should not be tuned out after one win but be focused. Joe Mazulla should not under-estimate Spoelstra. Miami has to be beaten the Celtics should be tuned in for 48 minutes not 40 or 45 minutes. Learning affects everyone the coach and staff included. Every game should account for last game of the season to win and whatever it takes.

Huh? The Celtics are 2-1 vs the Heat this season. You make it seem like we're 0-3..

Spo is a great coach and all, but his team is currently the 11 seed in the east. The Celtics (led by Mazzulla) are the top team in the NBA.

The Boston Celtics had their offensive rating fall more than six points during last year's Finals compared to the first three founds of the playoffs.

During the offseason, the main focus of the Boston coaching staff was revamping the offense.

"The one thing we looked at was: What were the best clutch offensive teams running?" Joe Mazzulla told ESPN. "We just tried to find the best clutch offenses and what they did and kind of studied that."

The discussions often revealed the principles of more spacing, more ball movement and more off-ball screening action.

"We have a really smart team and experienced team and they know we had to reinvent ourselves," Mazzulla said.

"Guys have done a great job buying into that. Now we're just learning about the different ways teams are going to guard us and how we can adjust to that."

Boston is currently scoring 120.8 points per game, which would be the highest total in the league in 30 years.
