I think the mistake was building around LaVine.

Even Kawhi is slowly going back to his old self. But his deflection numbers are still low.
They say Kawhi gained a lot of muscle (windhorst; hoopscollective) during his break that lead him to gain weight and thats why he was struggljng

Crazy how good Kupchak drafted for the Lakers compared to how we did during the process era.

May i ask why would he need to add 30lbs of muscle? He’s playing effectively with his physique at the G position

2014 76ers picked - Joel, Elfrid Payton, KJ McDaniels and Jerami Grant.
2015- Okafor, Hermanogmez, Holmes.
2016- Ben Simmons , Kork, TLC.
2017- Fultz,
2018- Bridges, Shamet.
2019- ???
2020- Maxey
2021- Springer
The Pelicans would have asked for Jojo in the Anthony Davis deal. Would there even have been an Anthony Davis deal? And the Lakers had a shot at Tatum in 2017 and took Ball instead after we passed on Tatum for Fultz. Even after the bad workout.

Lakers did the deal because there was no clear franchise player. So it’s possible that they wont trade for AD. And would just pair Bron with AD, with Clarkson, Hart, Kuzma, zubac, randle, dlo, ball, ingram and nance. There’s also a chance that Lakers could have traded Embiid for AD. And yet not trade Ingram that would leave them with Bron, AD and Ingram.
Regarding Tatum, I would have also passed up Tatum. His numbers dont check out for me, and my numbers have been pretty good in picking talents so far. And if you would read the draft thread back then, we’re quite fixed on Josh Jackson over Tatum back then.
I’d still pick Fultz 10 out of 10 times. And I still believe Fultz would have been the better player if not for his injury. Even for the bad workout. Fultz is what we need. He plays very similar (not exactly) Jimmy or Harden, two guys who are great fits with Biid.
Can create for themselves.
Can run PNR with Biid.
Can defend on multiple position.
…oh wait that’s Jrue. The guy who we shouldn’t have traded in the first place since he has to sat due to injuries.
I look at the young teams now. Rox, Magic,Pels, Cavs, Mavs, Grizz and to some extent the Pistons. Im just happy that they can rebuild at a shorter span (pick not just the most talent but the most right talent) compared to ours and I hope we can learn from them so we wont repeat the same mistakes again.
..and all the teams i mentioned have a Fultz type player that they are building around. Because once you have that type of player, everything is EASY.

Jordan didn't go on his run until he bulked up. Shai's game is getting to the line 10+ times. Needs to up those numbers.

Raps’ Derozan and pre-Derozan era. Their team feels so much like that.
I think they’re trying to atleast be able to get the game close with all that collective talent. Then down the stretch, they hope they can have Vuc pull out the rim protector with Lavine and Derozan doing their damage.
They should replace their GM (Raps DNA) with someone with Celtics DNA GM. Celtics is the more evolved version of what they’re trying to build.
Derozan is so trash. You can't have a player that can't shoot and can't defend as your franchise piece and expect to win games.

Jazz is so fun. They’re not talented but they play the right way and beating good teams. Their system is almost same with Pacers but their ball handlers are scorers than passers, which makes then more dangerous.

So, is Thybulle no longer offensively challenged after the Kings game? 3 for 4 from 3pt. Maybe its time to run the starters as:
Maxey
Harden
Thybullle
Harris
Embiid
Maxey
Harden
Thybullle
Harris
Embiid

Yea, I don’t think one game against the kings changes your offensive consistency.

Re: Around The League: 2021-2022 Season 2.0
No but the model is there imo.
Tucker/Thybulle or Melton to me is an automatic starter.
Haven’t seen the net ratings but they bring defensive value especially on the outside.
Anyway we are going to suck at rebounding all year so the defensive pressure has to come from other things such as deflections/steals.
And Melton/Thybulle both have some absurd “stock” numbers respectively.
Like Maxey but the starting unit is straight better in the end.

They were ok with Lonzo.
In terms of role, Derozan is like Booker (or Tatum or Embiid). They shouldn’t run the offense, you either need collective dribble drive like Celtics or you need a PG who can run PnR entire game like Sixers and Celtics.
Derozan is a very useful tool if used correctly. You run PnR with your PG then you dump the ball to Derozan to bail you out or down the stretch when opponent tighten their defense.
Bulls has to choose between Lavine and Derozan, they can’t have both or else there’s an overlap.

Stick with the starting 5, but use thybulle when the situation calls for it.
Ever wonder why this team can play best or atleast really good with one non floor spacer like Thybulle or Ben?
