Re: 2023 NBA Draft Thread
At 6-foot-7, Amen Thompson is the most impressive athlete in the draft.
The main knock against him will be the lack of high-level competition at Overtime Elite, as opposed to his peers who are facing collegiate or professional competition.
That said, Thompson possesses unique size and explosiveness for a lead ball-handler, and he might be the best passer on the board.
He needs to get more consistent from 3-point range, but Thompson is a gifted finisher with the handles and shiftiness needed to break down defenders at the next level.
He can finish with power or finesse around the rim and he’s electric in the open court, where his speediness and playmaking are on full display. He can also guard multiple positions.
Well i am sure Jeff and John like him very much.
Would be interesting to see Thompson with Wagner, Banchero and Bol.

falling for awhile? he had a bad stretch of games, but still scored in double figures in all but 1 game and was also rebounding strong. i like a player that figures out how to do other things on nights when the shot isnt falling
I guess it depends on how you ranked him. From what I saw, early in the season, he was the hot prospect and some people had him at #3. Thereafter questions were raised about his ability to get to the rim and score inside the arc. As far as I can see, he's been dropping ever since. Exactly when he started dropping, I don't know, but in the context of a young college season, it's been a while.

Definitely an intriguing consolation prize if Scoot is gone. A bigger, more freakishly athletic Markelle isn't quite ideal, IMO, but very interesting if FO is convinced he can score more at the NBA level. I think between our 2 picks and trade/FA, we need to come away with someone who can score bunches in our backcourt (not just defend & distribute). I'd take a PG or SG (or both), but someone needs to shoot.

I'm starting to think we might have 2 picks between 8-15.

I'm a Mizzou Tiger fan so I absolutely hate everything about Kansas. That being said Gradey Dick is phenomenal and I think he would be perfect for the Magic.

I think a long SG is our biggest need. Suggs is still developing at PGPetre1978 wrote:basketballRob wrote:Dick plays SG. I'd take Whitmore and Dick.

Give me Hawkins of UConn over Dick any day, certainly on the basis of games so far. A lot to play still.

His stats don't look impressive. Bouknight put up better numbers for UCONN.jezzerinho wrote:bigshawn wrote:I'm a Mizzou Tiger fan so I absolutely hate everything about Kansas. That being said Gradey Dick is phenomenal and I think he would be perfect for the Magic.

Re: 2023 NBA Draft Thread
It's still early. I think Orlando somehow ends up between 3-8 in the draft.
Assuming Scoot and Wemby absolutely go #1 and #2.
Keyonte George - SG
Nick Smith - PG/SG
Brandon Miller - SF
Gradey Dick - SF/SG
Anthony Black - SG/SF
Thats really the list. BPA as well as 'need' skill set.
Unless someone comes out of nowhere those are the only players I would care about drafting if its not Scoot or Wemby.
No thanks to drafting wings that are incapable of stretching the floor. It's obvious this is something lacking with the current core.
Obviously this changes if the front office makes a move for a legitimate starter at shooting guard.

Difficult choice between those 5

So far, for Orlando I'm interested in
Amen
Whitmore
George
Hawkins
Plenty more to watch and some others I rate but don't see the fit with ORL.

There’s some low hanging fruit right here.
