I'd do that in a second. No way the Suns would though.
Chris paul at 45 is still going to be better than prime deangelo russell.

For example, Center is probably #1, because against most teams, we have a better center than our opponent the whole game, whether those minutes are filled by Gobert, Towns, or Naz.
I think we are negative everywhere but SG and C. Pg is our biggest minus, SF is slightly negative if Jaden is not in foul trouble and Prince healthy.
PF ranges from slightly positive with KAT there to very very negative if Jaden there in a small lineup.
SG is our only slam dunk positive with Ant, C not always a win and Rudy has struggled a lot, got badly outplayed by some guy named Orlando Robinson tonight.

Re: Re: Trade Talk (Part Eleven): 2022 Offseason Edition
If things continue to go south, some options for Gobert trades in the Eastern Conference that would salary match.
No chance we would ever recoup what we gave up, but some possiblities.
Toronto: Siakam
Atlanta: Capela+Collins
BRK: SImmons
CHI: Lavine (max 3 yr +PO after this year) + Vuc (FA) for Gobert (max 2 yr+PO) and D-Lo (FA)?
Gobert for Lavine straight up in the summer and run an Ant/Lavine backcourt?

Strangely, the poster reported that the mod of the Suns board said the Wolves would never do it, because DLo is playing better.
I tend to agree with you.

To what end?
Paul has, what, 1-2 years at best? So the team can delude themselves that they aren't terrible as they win while he's healthy and fall apart when he's not?
I wouldn't do this deal, not because the value is bad but just...why?

For me, I like it. What this team needs more than anything is leadership, and the fact that it comes in an elite PG package doubles his value. When the Suns added Paul from OKC, I thought, “Dumb move. He’s close to done, and their team has a little talent, but they are mostly young guys who aren’t ready.” That was wrong, and I think Paul’s leadership was the key to Booker breaking out, and the Suns playing as a team and becoming instant contenders. That describes our team as well, and I would love to get Paul whispering in Ant’s ear, like he did for Booker.
If Paul has 1-2 years left, his contract is perfect. One problem with Russell is that his deal expires this year and we have no way to replace the salary for next season. Paul’s deal gives teams insurance from age-related problems because so much of it is unguaranteed,
2023-24 $28.4 mil
2024-25 $30 mil - half unguaranteed
2025-26 $30 mil - fully unguaranteed
It also crosses into the timespan of the new TV deal, where a $30 mil contract, will be the equivalent of a $20 mil deal now

I saw some worrying stats saying that CP3 is one of the worst PGs in several categories.

With AD injured I think that the Lakers are ready to make a move or at least have an insurance policy in Rudy. The pacers are probably ready to move on from Miles and Buddy. There's no way that we will get picks back but getting off Rudy's contract for me is a huge plus.

No it doesn't. The Suns had actually built some momentum prior to the Paul trade after going 8-0 in the bubble. They looked like a team on the rise. We limped into the play-ins and then got handled by a team we should have beaten. I also think Booker was breaking out either way but that kind of thing doesn't matter.
We can replace Russell's contract by extending him, not sure why you think we have "no way" to keep that salary going.
And I'll be honest, I hate the "under a new deal" line of thinking. Bad money is bad money.

They only looked like that because they finally had a competent PG in Rubio for the first time in years. Then they flipped him for a better PG in Paul and got success.
Take away a competent PG and they are a **** team again because Booker can't run an offense.

Uh yeah, he's a SG. Of course he can't run an offence.
Neither can Ant or Klay or Bane or Simons or McCollum or Middleton or Brown or Mitchell or LaVine or Trent Jr or Herro or Beal or etc.

Hell no. I just want to get out of this situation. Rudy is in the way of at least watching the team have fun while losing. After this season Lebron won't play nearly as much because he hopes to play with his son and AD will be injured again. Even with Rudy and buddy they won't be a threat to anyone. Westbrook can keep the same roll and we'd have Pat back. Even if they all walked, we should have enough money to sign someone else.

Last month, I think the Pacers turned down the Lakers request of Westbrook and unprotected 1st for Turner and Hield — they want both Lakers unprotected 1sts. Unlikely they’d accept Nowell (needs a contract), DLo and Forbes.

I didn't think that the lakers fans would want to continue watching a team full of mercs again after this new AD injury. they'd want some stability and some guys with potential. And those picks wouldn't look too good anyway after a trade like that and I don't think that they wanted Wesbrook long term anyway. Its just an opportunity to kick the tires on Dlo, Forbes and Nowell and then let them walk for the cap space. They would have done the same with Westbrook anyway.

Ricky Rubio expected back in January?
Hard to trust the upswing in his shooting, but man, I am so sick of this team’s turnovers!
