Re: Robert Williams, aka "Timelord"
Beyond the freaky athleticism, the great thing about Rob is this: whether he's goes 1/10 or 10/10, he's always genuinely thrilled to be on the floor playing basketball.
There'll be times when no one can buy a bucket. When it's easy to get negative, when guys might be navel-gazing about their numbers, or league standing, or what the papers might write... a steady guy like Rob Williams is a leader in his own way. When shots aren't falling he can pick his teammates up, whether it's with easy baskets or setting the tone with his consistent demeanor.

Like a warm embrace after hitting your MVP level teammate in the face with the ball last night

casually 17 of 22 to open the season
edit: I thought this was really impressive and it is but compared to Rob's career 73% FG% it's only a tad above normal levels

What do we think of Rob's athleticism so far? Looks like muscle mass up top, he was immovable against Houston's bigs under the rim. But also looks maybe 20 percent slower moving in space - is that the weight or the recovery, and does it matter when he's got the length to compensate? Less lift, too, and vertical explosion.

Some of that may also be rust and timing though

Definitely looks a little bigger and stronger as well.
I am a bit worried that being Bigger can put more pressure on his knees long term though. More weight that comes crashing down when he lands from space etc..
Yup, the Deandre Jordan archetype tends to drop off after 30. If Rob can add a 3-ball it'll unlock some longevity, though - he's such a smart passer, he could help facilitate like Horford used to.

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Luckily Rob is only 25 so we don't have to worry about this for another 5 years. Hopefully by then we would have won at least 2 or 3 rings
And even without a 3 ball, Rob is just as good of a passer/facilitator as Al (if not better).

Timelord ORB%: 20.7
Celtics ORB%: 21.1
Small sample size alert but he's been as good on the offensive board as the average Celtics lineup combined

Re: Robert Williams, aka "Timelord"
This is when he plays 15-20 mpg
He has a huge influence on the energy and pace we play, even when he sits
Also, when he plays, the team plays harder on the perimeter as they know if there is a penetration, Timelord will be there

^ That first quote by Rob is awesome. Dude has such a good mindset, personality and good vibes about him.

Rob easily coolest dude on the team. Probably the whole league. Let’s just say in the last 75 years.

Re: Robert Williams, aka "Timelord"
I love the idea of Rob coming off the bench and playing with Brogdon and saving the starting 5 from last year to close games or when other team is big. One of Horford or Rob need to be on floor at almost all times and neither should play much more than 25 min per game so having both start when the current starters are doing so well makes less sense. Of course Rob has earned being a starter so if it is necessary to keep him happy so be it. Personally would rather see Rob/Al close games than start them.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Re: Robert Williams, aka "Timelord"
25 mpg is not enough for Rob in the playoffs. He needs to be 30 plus. Benching Rob is quasi acceptable right now as I assume they’re just ramping him up and managing people’s expectations but don’t get confused…. Rob is not a 6th or 7th man on this team. He is our best big and should be starting. If Joe cannot see this he should not be the long term coach.

Sure, if this is a made up fantasy land where Rob's injury history doesn't exist..

Timelord is so much fun to watch. Easily one of my favorite players.
