Consistency we were looking for from him last season. I can count on one hand the bad games he's had this season. There are off nights shooting the ball but since he's gotten to the line more and raised his defense/rebounding, he still contributes a ton to Cs winning. He's leveled up.

I love how JT has hit the level of still having huge nights when his shot isn't falling. A couple seasons ago that might have been an 8 point game. Now it's a 29 point triple double.

MVPs get the calls. Every little bit helps. I doubt a single person here wants Tatum to win MVP instead of a championship. Do you really believe that?

I don’t know why a person can’t care about a player on the Celtics’ season while also caring about the teams season. Am I not a Celtics fan because I’d like their best player to be recognized by winning MVP? Such a strange take imo.

I don’t care if he wins mvp or not, though it’d be cool for him. All I care about is having a player who’s considered a legitimate mvp candidate at 24 years old.

Almost halfway into the season, and out of the top 20 usage guys in the league, only Demar, Kyrie, and Booker have a lower turnover rate than Tatum. I’d like to see us run the offense through him more, like last night. It will inevitably lead to some more turnovers, but the good of what it brings would far outweigh the extra half turnover a game or whatever it would be.

This should not be a 1A/1A offense, hell it shouldn’t be a 1A/1B offense. It needs to be a 1 and 2 offense, and it’s not me hating, it’s literally the numbers.

The mix seems pretty good actually. I agree that the JB usage needs to go down for the team to play it’s best and for him to limit TOs. Right now he is forcing it a bit for individual reasons. He has two competing goals: he wants to be all NBA to get his max contract and he wants to win a ring. Pushing the envelope to reach goal 1 is not always best for the team - a bit of a reminder of 2018 when the whole team was doing that.

JB doesn’t need to be a 27 ppg player every night for the Celtics to be at their best. If he averaged 20-21 (with the occasional 30-40 pt game when required and to keep his hero ball skills sharp) and deferred so guys like Grant White and Brogdon contributed more the team will perform at its best. However, he does need to be a 26 ppg guy to stay a top 15 vote getter for all star game and to make the all nba team in order to get paid the most by staying in Boston - which is best for franchise long term. So for now, I’m okay with him with too high a usage.
