This team is really clicking right now. We’re lucky Maxey is such a good dude. His move to the bench could have put a lot of strain on the team but it wasn’t an issue at all.
This is definitely the best Embiid season the game looks easy for him.

Yeah, Maxey is a class act first and foremost. Love that kid! To so mature about something that so many players get all up in their feelings about is refreshing. It's really not that big of a deal. It's not going to cost him money, it's not going to make his game decline, he's still going to get his points and play 30 mins a game. On top of that, it's what is best for the team. Jordan Poole.

For those of you that called the Maxey coming off the bench as a good thing, before it happened I salute you.

You only need to have functioning eyes to realize it, his defense destroys the starting lineup, it is less of a problem against opponent's bench.

As much as it pains most of us, you've also got to give Doc credit for getting him on board with it. Say what you will about the guy, but he seems to have the respect of his players, and certainly has a track record of getting guys that 6th man award.
But yeah, respect to Maxey for it seeming to be a complete non-issue. A coach's dream.

Doesn't take away the fact the Sixers robbed them. They sold high on assets that appeared better than actual value in Dario and Cov. What Brown/Brand decided to do with their winnings is irrelevant to the fact Minnesota is hilariously bad and still makes awful trades to this day. The incoming trade of D'Lo should be a treat.
Ironically enough, if the team just took the same approach to looking at Simmons when he was still fool's gold the way they did with Covington and Saric, we could've got an even nicer return to put next to Embiid and Jimmy.

Watched the second half, and this was as impressive a win as they've had all season. The Harden/Embiid P&R is impossible to defend, just lethal. Having Maxey and Niang off the bench provides such a jolt of offense, and Maxey's early 4th run was the difference tonight. Something still seems missing, but this group looks very solid right now.

What’s missing is Thybulle being good enough to take PJ’s spot.

always a jump shot away.

Yep, a defensive wing who isn't a zero on the offensive end. And a legit backup PG wouldn't hurt, either.

1- What makes the Biid-Harden PnR effective is the big has to sag off from the pick and roll to be in a position to protect the rim. And this slight sag off creates a space for Embiid to get his shot off when the ball gets back to Biid
2- Lue knows what Doc is doing and he’s not giving it to Doc. So there was an instance when Doc still had his starters but it caught doc by surprised when Lue pulled out all his starters and had bunch of nobodys at the floor
3- Clips and Bucks have the same problem IMO, they gave more value on defense, leads them to sacrifice more on offense that ultimately leads to a good two way team but is not gonna be good enough to beat a team with crazy amount of firepower on offense

If Harden stays healthy, this team is going to make a run. I'm not sure how you defend the Harden Embiid PnR, especially if Embiid is making quick decisions on the catch. Tobi is playing good and it isn't because of unsustainable shooting. Maxey is Drano when the offense gets stagnant. Melton is starting to provide Danny Green type above the break 3P volume at good percentages and better defense and more STOCKs. Tucker's value shows when he's playing against the championship contenders. Niang found the fountain of defense, at least a couple sips so he's playoff playable. This is a team better than the sum of its parts.

It is beyond essential that Harden be used like he was last night at 31 minutes, and both Harden and Embiid need to get the occasional day off as the season wears on. I'll have to see Glenn actually do this consistently before I believe it will happen, as his M.O. is to get in seed chasing mode after the all-star break. I'd far prefer to be a healthy, rested four or even five seed than a beat up two.

He's got comparable volume (10/100posessions) and percentage (~39) to DG's career averages. So easy to like this guy. What a great acquisition.
Interestingly, Green has hovered around 10 3PA per 100 possessions for his entire career. He was launching them at that rate in his first few seasons, well before the 3PA explosion.

Very good analysis....but that is some utter BS when you leave Shake Milton off the list of productive bench players. IMJUSTSAYING !!!
