did this place (realgm raptors board) start the whole glorification of tanking?

because the earliest i remember is u guys starting the original tWo thread with the op doing a hulk hogan impression back in 2013 and starting up "tank for wiggins". since then, other teams' fans have went all in on tanking whenever their team has a 1st rd pick and is bad

i'm just wondering because this place has a way with starting up memes and them going mainstream like "raps in 4" chants with a dueling "bucks in 6" chants from bucks fans

Keep Scottie, Gary, Precious, Koloko, Banton, Harper Jr. and Wieskamp. Sell off assets and start building on that prospect core.

Siakam/OG trades should net us at least 1 blue chip prospect to pair with Scottie and FVV/Boucher/Thad can get some some middling talent and SRP's. Maybe keep OG, depending on various factors.

Also, if we choose the rebuild route and go mainly rookie-scale contracts for our players, we could probably afford to return Kyle back here a year early to mentor our players. That'd be valuable.

It's like putting a set of BBS wheels, suspension drop and adding a body kit onto a short yellow bus.

Completely pointless.

Tampa: We are too good to tank to we "stealth tanked"
Last year: See we are too good
This year: Masai is obviously stealth tanking again meanwhile Fred going on podcasts saying he hates his role and Thad is beefing with Scottie

It's insane how many games we dropped this season to teams coming in on a b2b (and more recently teams on a b2b and missing their star players) while we were rested, and we still manage to either barely win (NYK), or flatout lose even though we are playing our main guys ridiculous amounts of minutes. How have we not thrown in the towel yet? This is beyond ridiculous now.

Following this loss, I am confident that Masai will make some significant alterations before the deadline.

The Pacers slide kind of scares me, they could very well lose a lot of basketball games if they commit to the tank and trade Turner. If either of the Bulls / Pacers find themselves in a free fall, we could slip into 10th in the East and find ourselves in the play-in.

Must keep stacking up L's in January before the schedule eases up

There was a chance of going for play-in since our rest of season strength is the easiest in the NBA, but after the last 2 disgusting losses Masai will absolutely pull the plug and we will free fall more than Bulls and Pacers

This is what I want to see - entertaining high scoring basketball where you focus on offense and not waste much energy on defense. This allows us to tank while keeping the fans engaged and allows us to pump the value of our guys for subsequent trades.

Indy isn't the same with Hali out. Supposedly he may not return until beginning of Feb. Not sure what the Pacers will do.

As for the Raps, it really comes down to the FO. This team, despite the struggles this year, does have some good players. If the FO stands pat and let it ride, there is definitely a risk we rack up some wins and become a treadmill team.

we need to be very careful with the trades we make. Another post-Rudy trade type of rally would be pretty devastating imo.

I'm not that confident based on what we did last deadline.

Some people attributed Precious’ late shooting hot streak and Scotties play to Thad’s mentorship last year.

Trent will for sure be gone. I'd guess OG will be too if we get a monster package. Plus we were 30-23 at deadline last year.

Man, if we end up trading OG and keeping Fred...
