I really don't think this is off the table anymore. I think Brad knows something we don't. Gallo WANTS to be here. He travels with the team. He seems to be included in this team as much as one can be in his situation. This is why I don't think Brad has any interest in trading him.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

Just think Gallo will be a turnstile on defense. Age + injury + ability make this an extremely hard challenge for Gallo IMO.
I know people are pulling for him. But think expectations may be too ambitious

He is a bench big playing a stretch 4 spot.I like ability and potential wants and goals.

I'm on the keep Gallo boat. If he can return by the playoffs. He'll be a valuable asset off the bench.

Gallo’s a five guys.
That’s why they replaced him with Blake.

Me too
He can read the Blake book "how to defend in the NBA when you have zero athletic ability" and he will be fine.

could also be read as an attempt to boost his trade value. Ie, Gallo is actually still a player (next year, realistically) not just a dead contract.
Brad trading Kemba within hours or days of becoming GM showed me he can act without sentiment plenty (which, in case it needs be said, I’m all about)

Brad traded Kemba for Al. Al was a starter all last season, all throughout the playoffs last year and all throughout this season. He's helped to anchor our defense, has brought awesome leadership, an awesome combination of ball mover + being a big who can pretty much guard 1-5 while also being a big who can nail 3's. And we already knew he was a good fit here from his previous stint in Boston.
If you think we can get a guy like that for Gallo, by all means. But I doubt it..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

I think there is a pretty good chance the Celtics move Gallo to get off his $6.8 million for next year. Gallo had a pretty bad year coming off his first ACL injury when he was 26 years old. Gallo coming off an ACL injury at 35 years old probably is not going to be pretty. Look for the Celtics to try to get out of his $6.8 million for next year.

I love Al and it was a fantastic trade. I was just trying to use it to argue against the idea that Brad wouldn’t trade Gallo for sentimental purposes.

Worst case: Gallo doesn't get traded and rehabs, then declines his player option next year and leaves.

He would never do that.
He knows that the only way anyone would sign him as a free agent this summer, would be for a minimum deal, of around $2 mil. If he picks up his option, he makes 3x that amount.

Yeah he wouldn't drop the option and leave. Might want another year added though. People forget Joe Ingles (a year older) was even farther behind Gallo with the same injury and got a full tax MLE for the Bucks, and he's never been the player Gallo is. Sight unseen, or pretty close to it.

I think missing Danilo was a low-key a pretty big deal. Unless something obvious opens up I wouldn't even think about moving him.
That said, what would Mazz give him for minutes? Playoffs is a tough time to integrate a guy in general.

Gallinari might get back some games before the End of the Regular Season.
He'd need that to get into some semblance of NBA Shape.
But, I think at this point, all we'd need from him is 10 or so mins a game, in the Playoffs?
