Jokic is coming - career PER WS/48 BPM

Post#1 » by SpreeS » Wed Jan 25, 2023 1:42 pm

Jordan was a leader in all three categories for 20 years.

PER

1st Jordan 27.91
2nd Jokic 27.52
22/23 Jokic 32.4

WS/48

1st Jordan .2505
4th Jokic .2455
22/23 Jokic .325

BPM

1st Jokic 9.25
2nd Jordan 9.21
22/23 Jokic 13.2

Its clear that Jokic will be the best in all categories after season or two. Could he maintain precedency until the end of his career?

Yeppers I just posted on the MVP thread-

Plus he's so skilled (while also being very big) he'd do very well in other decades too, a true all-time legend!
Jokic is the first player we've seen reach Michael Jordan's level offensively.

I could see Jokic retiring early to be with his horses and being number one in all of those categories. If he plays past 36 I don't see that happening.

Jokic is one of the best in the playoffs as well. For some reason a lot of people forgot.

We really are watching what is in many ways the start of a truly all time exceptional career. It's a shame so many people refuse to enjoy the moment.

Because whatever he gives you in offense end he gives up in defense end. Teams just hunt the Denver D because it’s Swiss cheese come playoff time

Honestly I'd take him over anyone else in the NBA and it's not even that close for me. Hope the Pels and Nuggets meet in the playoffs as it goes the distance and everyone is healthy.

When you have to carry the load of scorer and the playmaking (two roles in team) it's hard to be concentrated (without fouling because you are the fulcrum of the offensive game) also in defence

in the rookie season was very good in defence

All your life you thought that the greatest player ever would be some really fit dude who can do acrobatic dunks and shoot halfcourt 3s with ease. And this is possibly what you’re getting.

long time from now, alot can happen and people \ priorities do change but frankly i'd be shocked if he played till he was 36

assuming he'll get the winning part done right first, i.e - will a ring or a couple..he might just retire after his next contract ends
I don't think he likes living in the states all that much and I certainly don't see him chasing all-time stats and accolades just for the sake of it

A lot of us understand that what makes great players truly great is between the ears not their standing vertical or how many 3's in a row they can make in an empty gym. World has a ton of great athletes and a ton of great shooters.

Don't have many who understand basketball like Jokic. None actually. For all Lebron's physical gifts, this is what has made him the player of multiple generations now. His basketball brain.

This shouldn't be that surprising. Larry Bird wasn't an elite athlete. Magic Johnson wasn't an elite athlete. Steve Nash. Chris Paul. John Stockton.

it's not even about conentration or energy
Refs just dole out phantom fouls when the defending player is actively trying to avoid contact all together!

talk about a letter of the law \ spirit of the law type thing
If a guy is backing away and there's still incidental contact that doesn't even impact the play - that's not a foul
but it's called in the NBA, over and over

a guy like Jokic whose carrying this team on both ends, can't really afford the ticky tacky fouls

it's such a good strategy as an opponent: send ur scrub offender to initiate contact on the superstar big and get him in phatom foul trouble

well, the fouls are phantom but the trouble is real :)

Jokic is a below the rim player. Not very flashy. Coupled that with his background and it's easy to see why he is not popular.

unpopular is one thing but ppl not recognizing him as the best player in the game and a serious candidate to finish pretty damn high in the ATG list, in remarkable fashion and unrivaled consistency, that's another matter

but that will change with his first Finals\Ring

weird to call Jokic "not very flashy"
def not physically flashy but still flashy af

30min of flashy assists in only 8 seasons (where the first 2 season averaged 24mpg and in the last we are only halfway through)

Hard-core fans appreciate this. Casuals prefer to watch players like Curry and Morant

if you can appreciate a 3 point shot, you can appreciate a crazy pass
