Who is blaming the media? Of course it is the fans. Embiid is the GB's whipping boy - that is why I am not surprised.

The players keep it 100. Fans? Not so much.

Whatever. It is like Jason Kelce said at the Super Bowl parade in 2018 - people don't like Philly, and we don't care.

lol shouldn't you blame sixers' fans? Lakers' fans can get Austin Reeves in the top 10, Warriors fans did the same for Kevon Looney. Sixers' fans couldn't get Embiid into the (deserving) top 3?

Whoever got left off the east front court was going to be upset. The fact is that there were 4 very deserving candidates for 3 spots, that's just how it breaks down.

Whatever. Really - I could care less.

And the joke of it is, of course, with that new system that they use at the end of the game, if the East needs a bucket to win it, who do you think the PLAYERS would pick to score a bucket to win the game - Embiid or Tatum? Embiid or Mitchell? Even Embiid or Giannis? I get KD or Kyrie - but that is about it.

Everybody knows it.

You’re going with the availability argument for Embiid over KD? Have you thought that through…?

That doesn't mean I think Embiid is better, but I think he's more deserving.

Don’t have an issue with you thinking he was better or more deserving tbh… but you suggested availability was the reason. KD has played more games…

Kind of wish players had more weight than the media.

Any time I've checked the player votes, it's clear they are by far the worst voting group. So many ballots clearly going to buddies, guys they think a "hoopers", or just deciding to be funny. They don't take it seriously.

You mean Juancho Hernangomez didn't deserve 3 votes to START the allstar game?
Players are far and away the least deserving to get more emphasis on their votes.

Juancho, Willy and Rubio probably made those 3 votes. They need to have more integrity.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo got 5 votes. Looks like Thanasis, Giannis and three other homers from the Bucks need more integrity too.

There are other examples like those but the ranking according to player's votes is accurate. The fan vote is still way worse. Something needs to be done to fix the voting process. Some suggestions:

A: Change the percentages. Fans, Media, Players and Coaches count for 25% each.
B: Limit choices to 2 players per team only.
C: Limit online votes to NBA.com accounts with verified phone numbers.
D: Only 1 vote per person in the whole process.

I think the difference is the 76ers don't really have bandwagon fans like those franchises do and even to a certain extent Boston too. The last time I can remember Philly having a lot of casual/bandwagon fans is when Iverson played there and that's cause Iverson's popularity was incredible. I don't think casual fans are going to gravitate to Embiid like they did with Iverson. Iverson was basically like a folk hero who made a lot of people Philly fans who had no connection whatsoever to the city.

Not just that but the media doesn't seem too impressed by him either. I predict Young is going to leave Atlanta in the future because I can see him thinking he doesn't get enough respect just because he plays in Atlanta especially if he doesn't make the all star team this year. He may think that in another market he would get more respect.

I don't think it's about the market. This is the players that clearly disrespected him on the vote. That doesn't change if he's playing in a new city.

How many other times has a player from the team with the 24-25th worst record in the league been chosen to start an All-Star game? Asking cause I do not know how to look that up.

You lost, give it up. Find another cause.

I think it is worthwhile pointing out that Lebron is not even in the Top 15 MVP candidates this season. Whereas all the players that I feel deserve to be Western Conference starters are in there: JaM, SGA, Luka, Lauri/Sabonis, Jokic.

1-5: Jokic, Embiid, Tatum, Giannis, Luka
6-10: KD, JaM, Harden, Sabonis, Randle
11-15: Jaylen Brown, Steph, SGA, Kyrie, Laurie
