Raptors have the supporting cast to make a run in the playoffs, they just don't have a star.

Those two trades would give another long switchable defender to the starting lineup and insulate Durant on defense.

masai is not that stupid. You don't even think about this trade without agreeing an extension.. and i think that kyrie wants to play in LA.

So you will give og for a 6 month rental kyrie? No way

I think their idea was to have a G/F/C and build all three into cornerstones. Once you lock down that triforce, you become a force to be reckoned with.

Sixers tried that when we traded up to get Fultz. Just didn't work out because neither he nor Simmons wanted to shoot.

They probably should have taken Mathurin because he was just as aggressive an attacker but with a far better shooting profile than Ivey. But at the time, they thought Saddiq Bey was going to be a keeper and thus they didn't think they needed another F. They wanted a playmaker there instead so they took Ivey.

Imagine if they had Cade, Keegan and Kessler.

Cade, on ball.
Keegan, off ball.
Kessler, defensive anchor and lob threat.

Cade
Bey
Keegan
Bogdanovic
Kessler

And you’re here.. hoping Ivey can be as good as a shooter as Keegan. Duren being as good as a defender as Kessler.

Not sure if they projected Keegan Murray to even be better than Saddiq Bey.

Duren doesn't have to be as good a defender as Kessler, he just has to be a more wellrounded player. He's a fine shotblocker in his own right and great on the glass. And he has hidden playmaking ability that Kessler is incapable of. Duren just turned 19 in November. You're going to see exponential growth from him in the coming years. Kessler is basically already playing at his ceiling because this is the same player he was at UNC/Auburn. He's a plug and play rebounder/shotblocker that only does the standard bigman stuff. No playmaking, no shooting.

Kyrie was willing to sign with the Nets but it's clear they didn't come to his terms. The Raptors are in a terrible market for attracting FA and would certainly bend to Kyrie's will. It's not the Kawhi situation (which literally shows Masai is willing to do this type of move and was possibly a different bounce away from being knocked out of the playoffs in the second round, thus it being a one year rental of Kawhi with nothing to show of it).

idk i'm pretty sure that masai and the raptors want no part of kyrie.

This just screams LA and lebron. The lakers are just desesperate, they will trade any of their first rounders left.

Teams will always fall for the allure of a talented sad boi. We did it with Harden.

But there should be some automatic "nopes" from this day forth.

Kyrie bailing on the Cavs in the midst of several year finals run should have told everyone everything they needed to know about him right then and there.

Why would the Nets take anything the Lakers offer?

I don't think Kyrie makes sense for any team besides maybe the Lakers.

It’s wild that KD defended Kyrie for this long while he constantly gets burned for it. What a strange friendship that must be.

If I’m running a team, Kyrie is an absolute no go under any circumstances. He’s flaky, injury prone, and a massive PR liability.

The Nets weren't going to resign him anyways. They'll keep him as a rental, take their shot for a title and sign and trade him in the offseason. This is a non-story to me.

maybe because the lakers could be the only team interested in kyrie?

How many teams did try to trade for him this offseason? Just asking.Kyrie is the antonio brown of the nba

Either he gets traded to LA or they keep him and try make a run in playoffs

Morey should be on the phone right now anyway, if teams want to trade for Kyrie get out there as a possible third team that can add some expiring on the trade on exchange of something useful

Can we get KD? Assuming he’s wanting to move on if Ky gets traded.

If I'm the Nets, sitting 4th in the East and within 4 games of second, I'd just roll with it (given that Kyrie will still play).

I mean, Westbrook makes more than Irving, so making the contracts work alone is going to require a third team. I know the Nets aren't giving up more assets to acquire Westbrook and a first that's 3 or so years down the road.

We'd easily get outbid on Durant. He has 3 more years on his contract and isn't the type to sit out. Someone good but not a major market will swoop in, like the Pelicans or Grizzlies, both of whom have a stocked cupboard of picks and players on good contracts.

Suns beat the Celtics. Tatum went 3-15 from the field. I imagine that Bridges was his primary defender which is all the more reason why I hate that we traded him on draft day 2018 for what amounted to be nothing.
