This is my fear as well. Teams may hold back on Masai's final ask at the deadline, knowing Durant is likely to be available. Why give up pieces now thay Brooklyn may ask for in the off-season? At the very least it's a new wrinkle Masai needs to navigate.

yep, exactly. it's all a bit more complicated now. i think there's enough buyers out there that bobby/masai can still get something done but it's an infinitely more complex situation with durant in the picture.

Basically, if I'm New Orleans - whether I actually want to take a run at Durant or not - you better believe I'm making Masai think I am to drive down the price.

100%. It's unfortunate but that's why you gotta strike while things are hot sometimes. That said, being the figurative sloppy seconds in this case may not be so bad if the desperation is still there in the end.

What are you even talking about?

Wonder who said this:

The fact you complain so much about this team is just confusing. We’re a young team who is to good to tank, but somehow that’s bad? Like you do realize not a single player in our rotation, outside Thad/Birch, are even in their primes.. right?

Its honestly not even a bad take earlier in the season from whoever said that lol. Things happen.

It doesn't make what you post on a daily basis any less stupid.

So no point for any teams to unload the clip for OG with Durants future uncertain in Brooklyn.

I mean, Durant was available for trade last summer but that didn't stop Minnesota, Atlanta, and Cleveland in getting their guys.

If Sean Marks outsmarts himself again on his asking price, teams will be shopping elsewhere.

yeah, i don't think marks was ever that serious about trading him then. and those deals weren't necessarily connected like OG is with Durant considering they may be pulling from the same pool of suitors. it was always about running things back for at least one more playoff run and kyrie just blew that up. maybe there's something salvagable there on kd's end depending on the return for kyrie. if durant does want out, i'm sure he'll dictate to a certain extent where he would want to go.

KD was always lurking around. Nets management was rumored to have struck a deal with KD to give them 1 yr to try for a championship, then they will trade him if he still wanted a trade this upcoming summer.

KD will unlikely be in trade talks....tbh i am even skeptical Kyrie gets traded....They prolly will just let him walk in free agency cause i doubt too many teams are offering up crazy packages for Kyrie unless they know they could compete for the title with him ....So that already narrows the teams down....So still think Kyrie stays in Brooklyn with KD to finish this year and we will see what happens in the offseason...

Gonna go on a limb and assume it was me?

It has taken a nightmare season and going 2-8 in one possession games (4-12 in two possession games) to be the 6th worst team. It has taken a whole lot of luck (unluckiness? idk) to get to being approaching a top 5 pick.

Not sure why the guy is saying its a bad thing that some people who did not want to tank/blow it up in September are starting to entertain the thought of turning a poor situation into a less poor situation. I guess we are all supposed to just pick a lane and stick to it for the rest of our lives regardless of what new information we receive.

https://sports.yahoo.com/kyrie-irving-trade-demand-offers-league-rivals-hope-that-kevin-durant-could-become-available-233208821.html

Could Irving’s demand lead Durant to be next? That is certainly a question for any team looking to go big-game hunting ahead of the deadline. For over a month, sources told Yahoo Sports, the Toronto Raptors have told rival teams they will wait until the final hours before deciding whether to become buyers or sellers in this trade market. Why would Masai Ujiri’s front office part with O.G. Anunoby or Fred VanVleet if the MVP candidate, with three-plus seasons left on his contract, were to become available?

KD/GTJ/Scottie/Pascal could definitely work.

Would still need a bench.

Umm because Fred is gone in the offseason and without him agreeing to go to BKN in a sign and trade which he wouldn’t, BKN would get better offers in the summer for KD than an offer around an expiring OG. Even if we want to trade for KD it would probably be sending out Siakam and OG but im sure BKN would prefer picks over OG. So we should still be selling out players for picks

Good luck cause Fred wont agree to a sign and trade there and OG would be an expiring. Its better to trade them now for picks which we can send to BKN of u really want KD.

It is interesting that people on the board are worried teams won’t want to give up assets for OG and Fred with the possibility of Durant being available. Meanwhile, Fischer suggests Toronto won’t want to give up their guys for the same reason.
