Does Claxton only have 1 more year after this one? And then he's a Ufa? I see in the trade proposal that fred and Nic have 2 years left. I'm assuming Nic's is a team option. That's not that attractive if you have to worry about getting him to come back starting next year.

He's UFA after 23/24. Same as OG. So you'd get him for the rest of this lost season and one more season before having to pay up or risk losing him for nothing.

Fred can opt in and be UFA in 23/24, or opt out and be UFA at the end of this season.

I agree. Claxton is a nice player and would complement what we are trying to do defensively. But only having 1 more year after this one before being an ufa, is a little bit of a worry.

Then again, I've always said that I don't think Fred is going to net us a lot due to his expiring contract. Getting a guy that could solidify our 5 spot for the next 5 years (if we resign him), is a good get for a guy we could lose for nothing this off season.

There doesn't seem to be that kind of prospect on the horizon at the moment but I would take a chance on Sharpe.

Siakam for Sharpe? Good god no, that would be a mistake and a terrible use of Siakam as a trade asset. It's very possible Sharpe becomes the next Gerald Green...

I'm not sold on Sharpe becoming the next big thing either bro. My point was there is no Haliburton out there right now that a team would be willing to trade for a guy like Siakam. IMO, that is what made the Sabonis trade so rare. I don't see another talent of that caliber that another team would be willing to cough up for Siakam.

Sharpe is a guy who I think has the chance to approach that tier of talent. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. But if Siakam has to be dealt now (which I think most reasonable people would agree), then what else, aside from picks that could end up even worse, would you be willing to let Siakam go for?

Spurs take this and run with it. Half year rental of Poeltl netting close to two 1st value (23 1st and Cam Thomas). I'd love it if I was Spurs fan.

Feel like bad contract Joe Harris has to go to Spurs in this case, Curry to the Raptors

I actually don't think most people would agree. From what I have seen Siakam is the least talked about guy in trades other than Scottie.

I would absolutely trade Siakam for Claxton in priciple, I mean we're playing Pascal out of position as a centre right now, may as well have a real C who is a star level defender at that position instead, makes $8M a year instead of $35M (soon to be $50M) and is 5 years younger.
