Keep checking the Injury Report for tomorrow's games to see which teams players are listed as out but not injured, could be clues to who might be on the move.
Everybody is losing their freaking minds. Nutbars and wingnuts have infested this forum. We've become a public lavatory without cleaning staff.

I hope I see a few player appreciation threads before the end of today.

He's UFA after 23/24. Same as OG. So you'd get him for the rest of this lost season and one more season before having to pay up or risk losing him for nothing.

Fred can opt in and be UFA in 23/24, or opt out and be UFA at the end of this season.

imo there's nothing Brooklyn has to offer that the Raptors can ideally built with.

I agree. Claxton is a nice player and would complement what we are trying to do defensively. But only having 1 more year after this one before being an ufa, is a little bit of a worry.

Then again, I've always said that I don't think Fred is going to net us a lot due to his expiring contract. Getting a guy that could solidify our 5 spot for the next 5 years (if we resign him), is a good get for a guy we could lose for nothing this off season.

It’ll be interesting who plays tomorrow against the Spurs. If OG is still “out” then he’s definitely gone

Nets pay up Claxton but dont lose Dinwiddie/DFS and gain FVV, Boucher and Poeltl
Raps get their DPOY Claxton for FVV who is likely gone and Boucher. Joe Harris after expiring next season

Thoughts?

It's pretty good. Not sure if the Nets need to include Cam to get SA onboard and Raps would probably prefer it to be Birch instead of Boucher.

Just an FYI, but Brooklyn can't trade their own 2023 pick, I think due to protections on picks they've traded to Houston.

I think its a swap , so they will be getting a pick.

Bingo. This is the kind of return I'd be looking for.

There doesn't seem to be that kind of prospect on the horizon at the moment but I would take a chance on Sharpe.

Siakam for Sharpe? Good god no, that would be a mistake and a terrible use of Siakam as a trade asset. It's very possible Sharpe becomes the next Gerald Green...

I'm not sold on Sharpe becoming the next big thing either bro. My point was there is no Haliburton out there right now that a team would be willing to trade for a guy like Siakam. IMO, that is what made the Sabonis trade so rare. I don't see another talent of that caliber that another team would be willing to cough up for Siakam.

Sharpe is a guy who I think has the chance to approach that tier of talent. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. But if Siakam has to be dealt now (which I think most reasonable people would agree), then what else, aside from picks that could end up even worse, would you be willing to let Siakam go for?

The Nets offered Dinwiddie/DFS + FRP for Fred. I don't think Claxton's name came up in that offer, so I assumed it was for OG. But you have Woj/Zach Lowe saying the Raptors are talking to a lot of teams. We're only hearing about Brooklyn's interest and that's probably because they're leaking everything. I don't consider any of these rumours as serious.

Ya it was probably:

Toronto - "We like Claxton"
Brooklyn - "We like Siakam"
Toronto - "Bye"
Brooklyn - "Bye"

Spurs take this and run with it. Half year rental of Poeltl netting close to two 1st value (23 1st and Cam Thomas). I'd love it if I was Spurs fan.

Feel like bad contract Joe Harris has to go to Spurs in this case, Curry to the Raptors

Needed the $10M extra to make salaries work

but yea I think this can work.

They have their own pick, they just can't trade it is my understanding. I heard Blake Murphy mention it on his show yesterday.

I actually don't think most people would agree. From what I have seen Siakam is the least talked about guy in trades other than Scottie.

FVV to Phoenix, CP3 to Lakers, Draft assets to Toronto.

I see a good chance this goes down.

I would absolutely trade Siakam for Claxton in priciple, I mean we're playing Pascal out of position as a centre right now, may as well have a real C who is a star level defender at that position instead, makes $8M a year instead of $35M (soon to be $50M) and is 5 years younger.

Not sure .. I know they owe a swap for 2023 to HOU .. not sure why they wouldnt be able to trade that swap

Nets trade: C Jarrett Allen & F Taurean Prince & rights to Aleksandar Vezenkov (57th overall pick in 2017) to Cavs | G Caris LeVert, F Rodions Kurucs, three first-round picks (2022, 2024 and 2026) & four first-round pick swaps (2021, 2023, 2025, 2027) to Rockets

wouldn't the Lakers prefer FVV themselves? And aside from FVV, what other salary are we giving up to get Westbrook?

Return to Toronto Raptors
