Yup, I like this deal honestly

Imagine if we can swing Beasley, Jones? and 2 2nds for GTJ…

DLo, Reaves, Bron, Rui, AD
Bev, GTJ, Troy Brown, Vanderbilt, Bryant/Gabriel
Dennis, Christie

Main thing that upsets me is that we have limited time and may not even make the play in. Playoffs seem like a 1/10 chance

That would be nice . Can definitely make one more move with Lonnie ( and should probably), limited time us an issue but have to bear in mind they’re doing the correct thing by having tradable salaries for next year and being an above the cap team. Not cheaping out is good. If kyrie does want to leave next year it’s probably sign and trade

The Lakers probably easily could go 18-9 the rest of the way with this potential trade if they had a competent coach. But they have Hambone aka Ham and Cheese

This is the piece that Kareem just wrote on LeBron and him breaking his record. Sort of long:

Yes, this is like Mike Brown all over again for LeBron.

Minnesota holding up the deal. I'd still do the trade if you just swapped Russell and Conley.

Conley is older and has a partially guaranteed contract next season, but he's still the more complete player

Disgusting leak by Minny

Unprofessional and this Lakers tax is getting quite annoying, never felt this in CLE or Miami tbh

If it’s Conley, I want Olynk instead of Beasley, would give up 1-2 2nds and a 1st

Conley, Reaves, Bron, Rui, AD
Bev, Christie, Troy Brown, Vanderbilt, Olynk
Dennis, Lonnie, Bryant

Could we somehow still get GTJ with 2nds…maybe not

Minny get Conley from Jazz when Jazz want Minny to be bad is the tax Minny have to pay here. Minny have to take a loss or it doesn't get done. Anything Lakers could give to Minny should be going to Jazz. Ainge will see that.

This was year 2, 20 year old LeBron, has any pro athlete lived up better to the incredible amount of hype and expectations that was put of them from the get-go?

Bon voyage Westbrook you walking L. If only Ham could get traded too.
You said to me “I will give you scissor seven fine quality animation".

You left then but you put flat mediums which were not good before my scissor seven".

What do you take me for, that you treat somebody like me with such contempt?

Great trade in theory, better shooters now and a wing-stopper in Vanderbilt. I still feel there is a log-jam at the Guard position for us, getting a 3nD wing whether it is a buy-out or another trade that isn't pick intensive is the final touch I'd take.

Beggars can’t be choosers. This trade got rid of WB and brought back rotational players. Now use the other pick to get a wing.

Still wish they made the Pacers trade in the offseason, but alas.

I mean yes this trade helps in theory. I doubt Ham even plays Vanderbilt though. And he will run plenty of Schroeder Beverley D Lo lineups.

This is AWESOME trade for Lakers, we got ball handler/spot up shooter, catch and shoot guard and defensive tweener - all in nice age - for a 1st rounder (protected) and Westbrook. I'd rather take this package than a deal with Pacers for two 1st rounders.

That being said:

1) backcourt is too crowded and Ham may continue his rotational nonsense
2) margin of error is minimal and this is completely new team created on February

I wonder if there's other trade to fix ad 1.

This is why I would want Walker IV and one of Beverley or Dennis traded for a wing. As long as this log-jam exists, I have very little belief in Ham straying away from three guard lineups.

Who is that wing though?

Lakers rotation:
Bev, DLo, LeBron, Rui, Davis
Schroeder, Beasley, Reaves, Vanderbilt, Bryant
Lonnie, Christie, Brown, Gabriel

Could see Bev+Lonnie+FRPswap for GTJ

Our long national nightmare is over. Russell Westbrook is off the team. Hallelujah.

Really happy with this trade. Don't care if these guys are bad defenders, the Lakers got off Westbrook and that's all that mattered.

But also, D Lo and Beasley are legit good shooters and I like what I've seen of Vanderbilt although I don't know much about his game. This also leaves the possibility of trading packaging Bev and Lonnie with the 29 pick for another piece by tomorrow. Additionally, D Lo can be signed and traded in the off season for a decently big salary (Kyrie, maybe?). So Lakers still have flexibility to improve in the summer.

Good trade, good job Rob. Now it's on Ham to not **** this up, which I don't have much faith in. Still a steep hill to climb to get back into the playoffs.
