McD is a C, Mason is a D-, keeping Terry is a D. Solid D.

Did we also send out a 2nd in the McD deal or no?

Gave it a C. It's difficult to get a lot of value for guys who are going to be UFAs, and play for the worst'ish team in the league. Opens up playing time for Mark and Kai.

Yeah - wasn't clear on that either - my 'C' was assuming we did not.

Yep, gave it a D.

Trading McD and Plumlee made sense conceptually, but they got below market return. Not getting any useful players/picks (except kind of their 2nd i guess) and keeping Rozier and Oubre is really bad (please cut Oubre).

Grades aside, I tend to look at whether my excitement level for the team's prospects is higher or lower post-deadline. This year, it's neither. I will say if Mason made it through the deadline and Clifford continued to start him, I was going to boycott the Hornets until draft day, so at least I can enjoy watching Mark start (I hope).

I think we are bit too early to this thread. A lot of emotions, I think once people actually look at all the deals that happened it will be a lot less negative.

I think 2 firsts were moved at the entire deadline outside of KD and Kyrie trades.
1 for Poeltl and 1 for Lakers 3 team trade.
Am I missing any?

I don't love the returns we got, but doesn't seem like were getting a first ever. If we had walked away with 2 more firsts would you feel way differently?

Jalen is a B. Getting our own draft pick back, likely in the high 30's, is good enough for an expiring player that doesn't want to stay here.

Plum is an F. We're going to buyout Jackson, so we basically traded Plum for a middling 2nd round pick in half a decade. That is significantly below what the other available C's got.

Not trading Oubre is an F. If we resign him..oh boy.

Should've traded Rozier too. Maybe that's an offseason move.

Overall, D.

Second round picks are handed out like cheap candy. Some teams dealing 4 and even 5 at a time tells you they are not coveted, especially by quality teams. Their seconds are late round…and frankly prefer to deal for depth or sign free agents.

To me a solid D grade, but close to an F due to their failure to secure a trade for Rozier.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Legit what deals are you upset we didn't get in on? or what offers that were similar have you upset? I am not saying I am happy with deadline at all, but lets discuss and be reasonable.

Can't rate it now till draft day and what the Hornet's 2023 SRP can bring. I guess that was the main prize, but it remains to be seen how it's gonna be used (moving up from denver pick or a good playable prospect - the important word being 'playable').

I wanted Thybulle over 2 seconds and Svi for McDaniels.
Seeing Bones go for 2 late 2nds was a bit tilting.
Thomas Bryant getting 3 2nds

Deals that were similar to Plumlee
Bamba for 2nd and Beverly (buyout guy)
Muscala for 2nd and Justin Jackson

Other deals of note
Spurs sent Richardson and ate Graham contract for 4 seconds
Pacers got 3 2nds for eating Ibaka, Hill and Nwora- they waived Goga and another player to make it work.
Pistons gave up Bey for Wiseman
Green/Kennard/Gordon/Wall deal was something I really didn't care to get in on.

Bucks giving 5 seconds for Crowder
Warriors giving 5 seconds for Gary Payton
- I wouldn't have paid those prices

We ended up getting our own 2nd rounder back. And that's basically it.

Whereas other teams traded similar quality players for half a dozen 2nd's.

Not to mention we didn't trade Oubre or Terry, both of which had trade rumors.

In the end, we just didn't get good value. Or position ourselves better for the offseason. So this deadline doesn't move the needle in any direction.

I give it a B-. We got a top 35 pick and 2 future 2nd rounders of unknown value for 2 guys that are free agents. That is pretty good value for mediocre players not in the long term plan.

Just as important - We also freed up more playing time for the young guys and helped insure the tank continues. That shows the team is being realistic about where we are and looking to build up the PT for the young fellas.

I would have liked to move KO as well but if there were no real offers for him post injury then it is what it is.

I am fine with keeping Rozier as the future 6th man or a trade chip next year. He plays hard and seems to be good guy and we do need some scoring ability for next year.

This season sucks but fully tanking was the absolute right thing to do. They have 3 picks in the top 35 incoming.

If they get one of the top 2 guys (maybe even 3), bring back Bridges, develop the young talent in place (Mark/Bryce/Jones/Richards?), hit on one (or both) of the other 2 later picks, add a vet role player and stay half way healthy next year they are going to be a 45-50 win team with tons of future potential.

Couldn't they have just flipped McDaniels for Thybulle? I think I'd rather have Thybulle than an early 2nd and it was even reported that they were more interested in players than picks. Thybulle was picked in the 1st so I think hed be a restricted free agent. Sounds like they just didn't want to pay anyone so they could keep Rozier, which is pretty frustrating.

One of my biggies as well - seems that if the Sixers wanted McD, just give us back Matisse rather than forwarding him along to POR - and pay Matisse as a long-term wing stopper rather than attempting to re-up Oubre.
