How would you guys feel about Russ returning to run the 2nd unit instead of Mann?

JDub or Giddey are leading our 2nd unit group and I don't see any reason to change that right now. I love Russ but this is a terrible timing for him to come back. I really hope he can end his career in OKC when we will have a better team but this is likely one season and a half too early.

I'd feel like it was counterproductive. At least there's an outside chance of Mann still figuring some things out. Westbrook that's just a dead end.

Also, given the attitude problems, he's evidenced of late I'm not really sure they really want to bring that into this locker room.

No way I want rw back he doesn't fit our system of moving the ball around. He thinks he needs to be the hero and he is just a black hole with the ball.

 I'm very happy, that we resigned O.Sarr as two way player for this season. He gave us strong performances last season. Can shoot, 3 pointers as free-throws, rebound and is a fighter. He could be a good NBA player and knows most of his teammates.

Chet looking good. I do hope we still sign another player this offseason because it could be a nightmare season if Chet gets injured again (and we need frontcourt improvement anyway)

I hope the thin towers get a fair amount of run next season with good back court defenders (Wiggins, dort, Shai, Jalen or Kenny). I really think Poku and Chet could be a nightmare in challenging at the rim with a bunch of tenacious dudes giving guards fits on the perimeter. Fast breaks for days. And spacing on offense.

I badly want the thin towers to be a real thing but right now I just hope we can get an healthy Chet. I love Poku but I still don't know if he will be able to be a good NBA player. I do think it's a long shot but I wouldn't mind Presti offering Poku a cheap extension this offseason (Kenrich money)

Feels like the beginning of the end for Tre.

I’m definitely not sure about Poku being a good nba player. But he was making strides. And I do think he fits quite well with lineups with Chet/SGA and some shooters/defenders. He’s already quite a good connector and weak side shot blocker. I’d give him a little bit more than Kenny. But I’d give Kenny a little more than Kenny got, too.

We just have so many good guard options. And they defend, make good decisions, and don’t play outside the offense.

Also, dort off the bench in a reduced role actually does have a bunch of value. Hope the time off seeing the team functioning well offensively helped him recontextualize his role a little bit.

It’s an easier fit and role trying to see how a guards rotation would look like if we fit SGA, dort , Giddey, Jdub, Isaiah joe . With some minutes at SF for them .
And if you need a 6th guard it just make more sense to play wiggin rather than Mann

Transitioning Dort to the bench is a very smart move. That should be his slot long term - shot in the arm bench energy.

Joe, Dort, Kenrich, JRE, Wiggins - Thats a legit playoff bench in every facet but creating points on the dribble. Those guys are all bringing something that you want in a playoff game. Love this collection and think its one of the most under-talked-about aspects of this young Thunder team.

And I don’t think you need them to create points off the dribble because mark is staggering giddey, shai, and Jalen. That bench group can absolutely fill time by playing frenetic defense, running the floor, and hitting open jumpers playing off Jalen/shai/giddey.

It's unfortunate because he has some talent, but he hasn't improved demonstrably and there is a roster crunch.

His step back creates a ton of space and he has quick feet. He's getting more opportunities at the rim and he is finishing better. He just leaves you wanting more in so many areas though. He could be a solid POA defender if he was stronger and more physical. His step back would be much more useful if he was hitting his shots. What really kills his game though is that he is way behind where he should be in processing speed. He doesn't seem to consistently recognize the opportunities he creates and so he ends up over-dribbling.

He's young enough that he should be given more time, but I'm not sure how much longer this roster can accommodate him.
