That was a great, nonobvious adjustment by Doc to put Tobias on Morant. In our scheme where the defender goes over screens and funnels guys towards Embiid, Maxey was too short to challenge Ja’s little floater from behind. Tobias had enough length to do it, and Ja couldn’t really take advantage of getting by him off the dribble, with Embiid in the paint. This is where Ja needs a stepback jumper.

Memphis should then hunt Maxey by letting the guy Maxey is guarding set a screen for Morant. Then when Morant switched to Maxey, he then can attack to the rim.

Where we can then try to double morant and force him to kick out the ball or play zone defense.
