Great night for the Lakers. Win over the Warriors plus Pelicans, Blazers, and Jazz all lost. Edit: Actually the Thunder lost not the Jazz. Even better

Guys, they won a game pretty convincingly with a very mediocre performance by LeBron and meh by AD (albeit pretty good D), in 2023.

This is just proof of Pelinka being an all time idiot for not making a move sooner. LeBron shoots 5/20 and they win easily. This is a blowout loss pre trade.

Depth and support, in a nutshell.
None of their lineups before the trades had a combination of defense and shooting; they had either 1 or 2 poor defenders and a few non shooters. When this is the case, there’s no way to go on a run and it’s very very easy to give up those little seven point runs that they always would that would shift momentum.
I know it seems crazy but Westbrook plus LeBron this year was +6 per 100 possessions and with Anthony Davis of court they were +8 per 100. So, LeBron did find a way to work with Westbrook but the problem was that his massive salary prevented them from having any depth of decent players and so they would have all these leaks all over the place. Once that’s shored up, they’re going on runs WITHOUT James playing well.

This is hitting the nail on the head. My biggest gripe with Westbrook this year was the contract far more than the quality of basketball play. Him on a 47M vs vet-min contract is a night and day difference from a standpoint of roster construction (the need for him to get his box stats is whatever too, but he’s a good playmaker - would be maximized more if he sought to score less).
Thankfully, it’s water under the bridge and there is a lot to look forward to with the new Lakers crew

Next game is a huge test. Mavs can score about as well as anyone and on anybody.
That defense is mid though so let's hope Bron or Davis wake up with a huge game.

Honestly it was even that Westbrook was that bad, his salary was just awful though. He was overpaid by $35m. Limited opportunity to provide quality depth

100%
Westbrook worked and would crack this rotation. Just not at that salary. At $12m then sure but that extra $35m was needed for depth.
All big 3s are tough, big 2 with depth is what you want I think

big 3s with three top 15-20 players still works
Westbrook was paid like a top 10 player but wasn't a top 150 player based on performance

Westbrook worked with one of LeBron or AD. Not both.

I see that the James household enjoy some tequila on taco Tuesdays. Does he always struggle on Wednesdays?

It's highly debatable that this package would not be available before the deadline.
If this works out and they make a deep run then waiting may have actually been the best possible move.

So far so good. I still think they need to upgrade DLo spot in the offseason and add one more solid wing to be a top tier contender

Disagree with the retroactive Westbrook optimism. Regardless of his contract he's still going to be complete ass cheeks come playoff time. If he was being paid vet minimum he'd still need to be traded imo.
You said to me “I will give you scissor seven fine quality animation".
You left then but you put flat mediums which were not good before my scissor seven".
What do you take me for, that you treat somebody like me with such contempt?

I do think westbrook right now would be a really good player to lead a team to winning a bunch of titles in the future after they draft wemby

The issue with Westbrook is stuff didn’t make sense
It worked with lebron offensively but I don’t think it does in the playoffs
In any case, in that stretch when AD was out when it did work out was averaging 35-8-8 on 62.5TS.
Had Bron been shooting his career averages from three he probably would’ve been the best in the nba in that stretch

Bad defensively and not good enough offensively(45% TS in the playoffs)
