Tanking was never in the cards gents, too much greed in wanting to fill seats and stay on that 7-11 treadmill

Re: Tank World Order (10.0) The Empire Strikes Back
The offense has been horrible because of the lack of shooting and spacing, I gave up hope on that when we did nothing to address it at the deadline. Nick isn't doing himself any favors this season with his offensive play calling (or lack of)...but if we get stomped in the first round, the heat should be just as much on the FO; as the coachLos_29 wrote:DelAbbot wrote:NinjaBro wrote:I blame this treadmill on DelAbott. OP thread was fine but he made me change it and now it's jinxed.
You hijacked the TWO thread like Fred hijacks our offense!
The way our offense has looked without him, he probably should hijack it more often.

It’s truly a shame. I thought Masai and Bobby were big picture guys, realists, guys that can make the calculated decision even if it’s emotionally tough/draining. But, they’re just like most other GM’s. They should thank the basketball gods Kawhi got injured by Zaza. I also have more of an appreciation for guys like Ainge, Morey, Presti. Even if two of those three guys never won a chip, they all have gambled for the sake of a championship, took risks, aren’t afraid of the moment, don’t get comfortable. They also know when something has reached its limit. I still value Masai, but not to the extent I used to. I still think he can bring us another championship one day, hopefully.

Re: Tank World Order (10.0) The Empire Strikes Back
The reason Ainge never won a second title in Boston was because he didn't take chances. Anyone on this forum could do what Ainge has done which is trade players for picks. The hardest part is actually using those picks to draft quality players.
What has Morey done?
And Presti held onto Westbrook for far too long and rolled with a mediocre team for years before gutting that team. They had 4 straight first round exits despite being a veteran team with no young talent.

lol some of our resident holders got 20% increase
viewtopic.php?p=104532331#p104532331
damn homies. I got a 18% increase on my upper bowl sides. It seems this is a "catch-up" inflationary increase. They purposely kept increases low for last and this season. Not good, would of been better allocating part of this increase to prior seasons.
This explains why Masai and Bobby cannot pivot to a stealth tank - their team building decisions are driven by business revenue projections. Yeah this will turn out interesting. Grab some pop corn guys for the summer and next season. The ticket price increases are going to be fuel for the fireworks coming next season - whether it's winning fireworks or firing fireworks.

I don't think Presti is as good as Masai, you can't mess up a trio of Harden/Russ/KD, get swindled by Morey on the Harden trade and still get to be a top 5 GM. I think Presti is one of the best drafting GMs, if not, the best, yet he hasn't proven to as well rounded as Masai (think of how many trades Masai's won, on top of drafting well).
I think this is Masai's worst year performance wise as a FO, but I still would take him over anyone in the league except Bob Myers, RC Buford (who's now CEO), one can make a case for Ainge and Riley.

Hey, all those bricks don't come cheap you know. Masai going the buy route tells you all need. They want that playoff revenue.

I don’t think Presti is better than Masai either, but I wouldn’t totally be against hearing out an argument for it. That Harden situation was so bad I agree. But I’m more looking at his transition post Durant leaving. How he got Paul George, somehow got him to sign an extension in OKC of all places. Then when things didn’t work out got a haul for George in picks and Shai. Then competing with CP3 and then trading him for assets and tanking for a couple years and getting Giddey, Chet, and Williams. Now he has a situation where he has a top 10 player in Shai and really good young assets.
Of the top GM’s in the league. If Ainge or Buford were younger I would for sure take them. But after that It’s a debate between Masai, Presti, Morey imo.

I am glad these ticket prices are increasing because it means the FO needs to deliver a quality product. Masai will have to deliver to justify his top 5 paid NBA executive. Something has got to give.
Or it could be another Knicks, Wizards, Bulls, situation where they just wanna barely make the playoffs for the extra revenue and have the perennial playoff team tag but not necessarily care about being real contenders. The moves the past two seasons (Thad trade, and now the Jakob trade) leads me to believe they highly value this core and that to me is just wrong.

Re: Tank World Order (10.0) The Empire Strikes Back
lol MLSE / Raptors pushing this 10%-20% price increase in the face of most economists calling for a likely recession in Canada by the start of 2023 season (Q4) and latest 2024 H2 from the BoC hikes - and raptor tickets are mostly purchased with disposable income and corporate income, which are most likely to shrink in a recession. Is this genius (getting the final big money grab in before recession) or setting up for a collapse in fan interest? Scottie better work on that jumpshot or he's going to cost some coach's jobs.
