Ja Morant's lifestyle is something that he probably craved to do since he was a young boy and now he got means to live it. Lol, like people don't know what he was doing when he wasn't training for basketball. People don't know who he was around when he was away from his parents. Parents can't protect you forever.

Johnny Manziel came from a rich family and was on the same crap Ja Morant was doing lol.

I’ve rooted for Ja, and hope he turns it around, but I’ll say this:

Kids that join gangs do so by and large because they’re searching for a sense of belonging that they can’t find in any other part of their life. Everything else - the drugs, guns, illegal activity - are symptoms of the life, but not fundamental prerequisites that speak to the “necessity” of gangs.

The problem with Ja is it seems like he’s drawn to the symptoms of gang life, without actually having the lived experience of needing the support of a gang. That’s a huge problem, because instead of violence as a means to an end, Ja is treating it like an end in-and-of itself.

He’s got a lot of work to do, and it’s got nothing to do with public relations. I think he desperately needs therapy.

Ja might’ve been better off if he played in another generation, one without social media. Someone needs to get in his ear and help him before he goes too far.

You'd think his father would be that guy.....but for all we know he tries and Ja doesn't listen. Or maybe he's enjoying the spoils his kid brings too much to notice. I hope he learns.

I’m not sure that meets the definition of brandishing. I don’t know the firearm laws in Colorado. In Arizona - what he did is legal.

Now if this is a moral code or policy that’s a different story. I’m just suggesting I don’t think what he did is that inherently bad

Open carry is legal in Colorado, but illegal in Denver (if that's where the night club was.) In Colorado, cities can make laws that are exceptions to state law.

EDIT: Some Denver suburbs allow open carry some do not--I don't know where the club was. In Denver, openly carrying a firearm or carrying one in a vehicle can result in criminal charges.

Good move by the Grizzlies. I loved Morant before the draft but his on court rule breaking and off court behaviour makes it impossible to like him anymore. He’s young hopefully he learns from this, he isn’t the first and certainly won’t be the last.

Question is, is it more exploitative nowadays than it was before or is it much the same young males with fame and money getting into trouble it’s just that social media is a communicative weapon that can catalyst exposure way quicker than in the past.
