Is this true on private planes?

I haven't been on one since before 9/11.

I think it likely would violate league rules, team rules, and airport rules, even if the private plane were OK with it.

I posted this a day or two ago, but even before you get to how or when he got his hands on a gun in Denver, the NBA has very clear rules about firearms. (Thank you, Gilbert Arenas.) One of them states that you can’t be in possession while traveling on league business in any capacity. So yeah, I think it’s very reasonable to assume given Jenkins’ language from yesterday’s press conference that this could be a lot longer than two games.

Man, what a fck up. Can’t remember the last guy who has done more damage to his image in such a short amount of time outside of something really flagrant like spousal abuse or the like.

The police in Colorado are looking into it now, smh

https://www.9news.com/article/sports/nba/ja-morant/73-4dad9f4a-7a97-4e85-bab4-a8a10bc27e9c

On Monday, police in Colorado said they were investigating Morant's actions and whether he may have broken any laws.

Morant's video is believed to have been filmed in Glendale, a small enclave surrounded by Denver and known for its strip clubs and shopping centers.

Capt. Jamie Dillon said police did not receive any calls or complaints about Morant's actions but began looking into them Saturday after learning about the video circulating online.

We had a thread a while back around the idea of "Which 5 guys would you like on your team?" My final choice, after some dithering, was Ja.

Bad move. :)

Seriously. He's doing typical athlete hijinks and people acting like he's trying to be a criminal lol.

Pointing an alleged firearm at members of the Pacers isn't criminal? That's called 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, and that's a felony. Typical hijinks? Gtfo..

Pointing an alleged firearm is not criminal. Pointing an actual firearm is, and depending what state the incident happed in, it is either assault, a degree of reckless endangerment, or brandishing. All would be at the felony level. Pointing a fake firearm at a person, putting that person in fear for their life, is also criminal assault in some states, and if the fear is reasonable, the civil tort of assault in every state.

Without me going the entire thread, can someone explain to me where this mental health angle comes from? Does Ja have a history of having mental health problems? Or is this just a case of spin? To me, this just seems like someone young who has surrounded himself with individuals who don't really have their lives together, and as such have been a bad influence - I don't quite equate that to mental health, but more so someone simply needing to grow up and realize that it's okay to be selfish, and cut ties with people who aren't going to do any good for him in his life.

There are a lot of great role models of players (past and present) who actually grew up in rough areas, but came into the league with the right mindset of knowing who to keep around their circle and who not to, and have generally stayed in the straight and narrow. Point being, he has great resources at his disposal to actually turn not only his career, but his life around before it spirals out of hand.
Why so serious?

The mental health thing is a cop out, a disgrace from Ja coming out with that shallow ass statement. It’s a start, I guess.

Giannis doesn't need a gun. I didn't even really like Ja prior to these incidents and definitely not cheering for any time soon.

Like I'm totally on-board for a 50 game suspension if he brought a gun on a team plane (especially after the pacers incident). I just hate when posters type things as fact when it is pure speculation.

I wonder how they can prove whether he did or didn't.

That's a good question I suppose if they have the gun they can check the serial number (assuming of course it's even registered) and they could see what state it is registered in?

But who knows though it could have been his friend's gun right? I can't imagine he's going to get 50 games for this.

A classic red flag for mental health issues is pretending to be something or someone you're not.

It’s corporate damage control. They want to downplay the gun aspect as much as humanly possible and that’s the PR word salad they came up with.

If they can prove he had it on a plane they pretty much have to give him 50 games.

IDK, I assume they will do a pretty good investigation on this one since it was so public. Didn't the NFL get a few players based on text messages?

My humble guess is he did not bring it on the plane. But if he did and is asked directly by the NBA if he did, he could be setting himself up pretty bad if he lies. If other players behind the seen say he had one or there is some kind of evidence that he did, I assume they will be pretty heavy handed with the suspension.

Legally, guns should have their provenance be traceable (serial numbers, sales records, etc.)

If Morant had an untraceable gun that would create other issues for him.
