Well the criticism was that they were overvaluing certainty and filling an immediate small role and undervaluing potential that you can more or less only get with a pick that high. So I don’t know if judging it off the rookie year really makes sense.
It’s more just a philosophical disagreement of how to use the 4th pick in the draft. You can get a Melton or PJ type to be a role player for you a lot cheaper than that.
Ivey has been scoring the ball in the league also at the same age Murray was averaging 7 in college.

Brutal schedule, weeks on the road, back to back and GSW is the best home team in the league, looks like schedule loses
Phoenix struggling right now. Ayton missing games, but likely plays. Warriors, size is their problem but are deadly at home.

Game is simpler. You know what skills is valued more, generally in a prospect and in a certain positions.
Jaden’s value as a prospect is mostly his athleticism and defense at the G position, while reflecting inconsistent and average at best shooting/scoring. Keegan’s value as a prospect is his scoring (he reflected one of the best scoring numbers ive seen) while reflecting atleast average defense at the F position. He was also showing flashes of being a good shooter.
A guard with inconsistent or average at best shooting is like having a C who is a liability on defense.
Even Pelton ranked Keegan as high as 3rd overall in the draft. With Ivey at 11th.

I haven’t dig deep into it, but I think this conundrum is repeating again this season between Scoot and Brandon Miller.

When Murray was Ivey’s age he was shooting under 30% from the college 3 line. Ivey is shooting better than that from the NBA 3 point line right now.
Beyond any other comparisons Miller is a freshman it’s different.

OKC getting hot late in the season with a pretty weak schedule left. I'd personally hate to play against them in the playoffs. SGA, Jalen Williams, Josh Giddey, Lu Dort with Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins, Jaylin Williams plus a few other very solid role players with nothing to lose in their first playoff run? Upset city.
SGA playing like an eventual MVP candidate gives them a chance against almost any team in the West in a 7 game series. I hope they jump the Mavs.

Several teams who have been playing with negative defenders like the Heat are doing this often.
But the counter to this is against more talented offensive teams who..
- better ball movement with better chemistry like celts
- multiple alpha scorers (Sixers? Mavs?)
- alpha scorers who does not need to hunt to generate mismatch (not the celtics. Sixers?)
And yes, im excited what are the teams that will throw to surprise us in the playoffs

Austin Reeves is the only true Lakers in the damn rotation. A bunch of fakes and mercenaries around him.

Possibly. Bucks is outside the top 10 in offense and they dont have a reliable guy down the clutch. They’re very vulnerable this season specially with how the league has made offense OP.

It is staggering how bad that trade was for the Wolves in every way. That is arguably worse than any Process era Sixers move.

I like Kessler, but the answer for him right now is to hack him. Make the Jazz two minute offense consist of Kessler FT's. That's a win almost every time at this point. Now if Kessler can up his rate 10 percentage points it becomes a lot less viable.
Also to piggy back on other comments, the Gobert trade was unfathomably bad for Minnesota.

I'm curious if there was even bidding for Gobert. How could the price tag been so unbelievably high?

54% on FT line, thats 1.08ppp
That’s higher ppp than league average 3pt shooter. Also higher compared to the most elite mid range shooters.
That’s also higher than Embiid’s 1.00 ppp on ISO. Much more against Tatum’s .90 ppp on ISO.
And lastly, why would you give away extra points and put your key guy into foul trouble or put your team into the penalty that prevents you to play any defense that will handicap you when its not like Jazz has a prime Shaq out there who you can’t stop scoring.
If you want to take away kessler then maybe play small ball and force him to step outside the paint where you take away his contribution for rim protection.

Lauri is pretty damn good now. Don't want him shooting it.
And it's 1.08 expected. Kessler is a bad FT'er. It's often going to be lower. On the rare occasion when he knocks down 4 in a row you stop.
