Keep in mind he did this in the SEC. He’s a ball hawk. With the Cowboys pass rush he would be given the chance to pick off a lot of passes. So he did it on a big stage against elite competition. CB is probably the team strength right now but you can never have too many good CB’s.

I don't think I can ever be convinced again to draft a WR or CB in the first round. To me those positions are way too diva for me and are the easiest to get and reload from year to year. JMHO.

Really depends on the quality of player available. This year's WR class is just okay. JSN is the one guy I absolutely love. I like Flowers as a late 1st/2nd. But otherwise I would hold off & target other positions.

Gonzalez would be a perfect fit for us. So he's absolutely one of my guys. But I think you can get a good CB in rounds 2-3.

So have you guys decided on your pick @ #5 yet?

I think unless they fall in love with Anthony Richardson, it will either be Will Anderson, Jalen Carter or Tyree Wilson. One of those three.

Horn missed his rookie year. Came back this year & played well.

Neither guy has had the same impact as say Micah. But both are legit CB's.

Micah Prescott wrote:The other facet of the CB position is that it can be ignored by the other team all together, unlike other positions. If a CB is really good then the QB just throws at other targets. Unlike an elite DE or LB who can not be ignored and is in their face no matter what.

Yeah...Having a guy who can shut down the opposing teams #1 WR is a big deal. I'm not sure I get your logic on this one?

Jalen Ramsey was a lockdown guy until this past year. Way more valuable than most other positions. A stud pass rusher is always going to be more coveted by teams.

So having a guy like Micah, is obviously more valued. But CB is still a premium position. QB, OT, DE, CB, WR.

My logic is that offenses can game plan around elite CBs.

It is much harder for a CB to dominate a game vs other defensive positions. An elite LB is where the ball is almost every play. An elite CB removes the #1 and that is very helpful yes but an OC can plan around that.

Also I think they hit less frequently than other positions. It's more of a gamble IMO.

You're free to disagree, but you know, you'd be wrong :D

Micah plays more as a 3-4 OLB. Rushing off the edge. Where as your traditional off-ball LB is way less valuable.

No, I'm usually never wrong.

Any player at any position can be game planned for. Bellichick made a career out of game planning team's elite players on either side of the ball, regardless of position.

CBs are easier to plan around.

Nnamdi was out there picking his nose doing nothing his entire career in Oakland. The guy was rarely even on camera. The football never around him. Yeah he shut down his side, didn't stop the offense from going to the other side and beating Oakland every game.

Meanwhile Slay and Bradberry are pretty much the consensus top duo in the NFL and were both drafted rd 2.

I actually really like Mims but as a 3rd round pick not a 1st.

How many of the prospects have you had a look at? A good amount? What are your prospect rankings?

I’ve looked at quite a few but don’t really have a prospect rankings. I’m really only looking at guys that could be fits for the Cowboys. Guys that likely could be on the board when the Cowboys picks come up.

The Cowboys had an interview with RB Tyjae Spears and apparently are enamored with him. I think if he’s on the board in round 3 he will be the RB they draft.

I haven’t seen this posted on Twitter yet but rumor in Dallas is that the Cowboys are looking to trade Dorance Armstrong for draft pick and the likely trading partner would the Atlanta Falcons who would send the #75 pick to Dallas for the rights to Armstrong who is in the last year of his contract.

Have any idea what we get back for a pick? This is another Quinn and/or McClay move. :gossip:

Well pick 75 is at the top of the 3rd round. It just gives them another pick in the top 100. I think they still go with best player available with the extra pick.

Cowboys are moving up in the third round for a reason. They have their eyes on someone !

I think Hooker will be gone by then. I have a feeling Hooker will go in the late 1st. I could actually see a scenario where a team trades up into the bottom of the 1st to draft Hooker in order to get that 5th year option on him.

The other two QB’s the Cowboys are really interested in are Max Duggan from TCU and Aiden O’Connell from Purdue. Neither of those two should go higher than the 6th round.

I know. I was only teasing Bjj.

Hooker won't make it out of the 2nd Round.

If the Cowboys are looking at TE and RB I would say the best TE options for the Cowboys will be in round 1 where they can draft one of the top 3 TE’s. The top big power backs should start to go in round 2 and 3. I will have to take a deeper look at the power backs in the draft.
