Didn’t this guy and other Raptors third stringers beat the crap out the Celtics either in the preseason, or summer league, or a game last year? I remember this guy being one of the fleet of lengthy feisty Raptors.

Welcome aboard. I have so many conflicting feelings;) (djfan knows what I’m talking about)

Cause, we could have been bringing up Maine Celtics' for 10-Day contracts.

And, we don't need a 15th guy for the Playoffs.

If it's a multi-year deal, then he's trade fodder in the summer.

Can they give him a multi-year deal? Can’t remember how that works.

Anyways the guy is still 21, very young. Pretty classic 3(maybe)/D archetype as a player.

Hmm, that's right, we don't have a way to sign him to a multi-year deal. One-year vet minimum then?

DPE is for just one year. We don't have the BAE and we already used the MLE on Gallo.

Sounds like a cheaper Stanley Johnson. That is, if you could get cheaper than vet min.
Works for me. Somebody's gotta be on the court those last few games.

And much better hair (albeit less aerodynamic, but it doesn't matter if his ass is glued to the bench).

Sneaky thing about this move. It might have nothing to do with why we signed him. But it may have factored in a little bit.

We may end up facing Toronto in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Champagnie was with them this season and last season. So he knows their systems, their schemes, their terminology. He can tell us their secrets haha, and he knows the tendencies of their guys..

Also, his twin brother Julian was with the sixers for a little while. Perhaps Julian has told Justin some of the Sixers secrets..

Oh and Justin has been playing the past couple of months for the Heat's g league team. So perhaps he has picked up on some of their secrets in case we play against Miami in the 1st round. Perhaps the Heat g league team runs a lot of the same sets and defenses and stuff. And Justin's teammate there was Orlando Robinson, who has played for the Heat's big club quite a bit this season - so maybe Justin has picked up on some of Miami's secrets from him haha.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Coming out of college (2 yrs ago) he was known as a high energy, good defender, good rebounder for a wing who had to work on his offense.

But in the g league he had a 40 point game, a 43 point game (both in the past few weeks). A 34 point game earlier this season and a 36 point game last season. So clearly he has worked on his scoring (although to be fair, the g league is more of a run and gun, offense oriented league. But still, some impressive numbers, nonetheless).

So you combine the defense he showed in college with the offense he has shown in the g-league. And consider that he's still only 21 yrs old.

It's a low risk, high reward pickup. Solid move.

Highlights from his 40 point game from 3 weeks ago:

Oh and this is nice too. I doubt he plays any meaningful mins if we see the Bucks in the ECF, but it's nice to know that he's at least a guy who has frustrated Giannis in the past with his defense :)

I get people might look at his stats and think he can't shoot.

But he's been shooting the ball much better lately from 3, in the g league.

First 26 games = 32/107 (29.9%), 4.1 attempts per game
Last 10 games = 22/57 (38.6%), 5.7 attempts per game

So his 3 pt % is WAY up over his last 10 games - on higher volume, too.

Same college program as Celtics legends Brad Wanamaker and Mark Blount. Same agent as future Celtic Pascal Siakam. And same French-sounding name as former/current Celtics Begarin, Yabusele, Poirier, Pietrus, and Fournier.

Stealthy Brad with the no-look, 4D-chess signing once again catches everyone looking 180° away and in a different dimension.

This could be ominous -- what better way to cap off this post-season than with 15th-man Just-in popping off the champagne as banner #18 & confetti drops from the ceiling.

Brown and Tatum are going to get some rest before the playoffs begin.

You can sign guys at the min for a two year deal. I expect that it's going to be like the Fitts/Stauskas special from last season with a second unguaranteed year.

They'll need it.

All I wanted to see out of the signing is getting a guy around 6'6" who can come in and spot those guys for a few minutes, play some garbage time in the remaining reg season games, and bring intensity and attitude on the defensive end. Stanley Johnson Lite?

Seems like Justin clicks off the boxes. Brad may have even found a diamond in the rough as he's still only 21.

Had to look up his wingspan too: Measured 6’5.75” barefoot, 6’6.75” in shoes 8’8.0″ standing reach, 206.4 lbs, and 6’9.5” wingspan at the 2021 NBA Draft Combine.

He looks quite long in the vids, gobbling up rebounds. If he can learn to make the switches as a versatile defender in the C's system he could earn a few spot minutes in certain matchups.

Watching a few videos, initial impression is that Shampen reminds me a little of Justice Winslow. Or what I thought Winslow would be. At least in G League. Which isn't saying much. But I'll take it.

I'm not convinced Gallo is really on the roster -- think he's just CGI.
