There are going to be a lot of teams after Jaylen Brown. Why would there not be?

I did not imply there wouldn't be but I personally think that's a good return considering jalen only has one year left on his contract

Houston is not going to offer that, they can sign him outright.

So I guess if Jaylen is listed at guard and forward, then all the votes count towards the position he's voted to most. Which should be forward (you'd hope)

Perhaps.. But then they would have to wait another year and they are far from a lock to sign him.. in a trade you can get what you want right away... Again it is only a rumor but maybe their patience is wearing thin with so many young players...

They still have a ton more draft assets as well even after a trade.

Even haters can't accept a crap package like that.
And JB leaves the Celtics to go on the worst NBA team? Oh man

Not if he's traded somewhere better first.

Edit: who's a better prospect at this point, Eason Or Jabari Smith? I don't love it but something around Sengun/Eason/third quality rotation guy and a couple of top ten picks (eg Trade Houston's pick to ORL for theirs) is in the quality for quantity mix.

exactly for the Bold part.

I like J Smith> Eason.. Higher upside and a taller 3-4 fits nicely with Tatum.

Might be interesting to see where Houton ends up in the lottery.

We don't want picks + unproven prospects for JB.

JB is a proven talent, a 2x all-star entering his prime.

If you want blow the team up and be prepared to move Tatum in a spearate deal, then sure, go ahead and trade JB to the rockets for some unproven prospects + picks.

I'm all set with that.

That's not the type of move that a contender makes. A contender only makes a move that results in them still being a contender. You don't make a move that results in you being in the lottery, smh.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Ideally you move Jaylen for players already developed but if you replace Jaylen with Jabari Smith, Sengun and a roleplayer scorer the Celtics probably still win 55-60 games. Hell, even if Jaylen is out for a season the Celtics probably still win similar number of games. That's what they've literally done for Jaylen's whole career.

Right, you only move him for a group of young guys if there is a high degree of confidence in what they become. It's not ideal because of the risk but could become a more viable route though given the new CBA.

I've thought that 'role player scorer' could be DeRozan for awhile, even without moving JB. I think he's a great short term fit though if they do move him, especially if they are bringing in some really good quality younger guys with him to restock with.

Yeah the leap from Grant Williams/Muscala/Kornet to Jabari Smith/Sengun could be anywhere from significant to massive, depending on how quickly Jabari Smith develops. He's long as heck, can move a bit, and can shoot the ball so I see a bright future for him.

I kind of like Eason generally (he and Sengun had a +2 overall +/- on that terrible team playing together). Sengun meanwhile is barely older than the Thompson twins about to get drafted. Not sure his ceiling but good potential.

Smart/Pritchard
White/Brogdon
Tatum/Hauser
Rob/Jabari Smith/Grant
Sengun/Al

Would be a lottery team? That team wins 50+ games. You want to talk about lower postseason upside next season? I won’t argue, but lottery is insane.

Saying lottery was probably hyperbole. But there's no way we're trading JB and all we're getting is a couple of development projects (a big who can't shoot or play D + a forward who analytically is arguably the worst player in the league this season among players who have gotten the amount of playing time he's gotten & is only shooting 30% from 3)

Some haters not going to like this:

Celtics star Jaylen Brown sits down with @Stadium: “I get why people try to break up duos because so far, (Jayson and I) have been incredibly successful. At this point, we’re part of each other’s destiny.” On rookie year lessons, headlocks with Marcus Smart, sacrifice, much more.

Don't bait/troll people. Making repeated posts about "haters" just makes the thread hostile. -b

Return to Boston Celtics
