Imo he will resign with Raptors and Raptors will part ways with Trent.
Imo Raptors can supliment what Trent gives them easly with cheap contract. He didn't play in last 3 games, they won all 3. Two were against WIzards and Pistons so whatever, but they beat Heat on defense and grit.

Trent doesn't really fit what they do. He is meh defender who is high usage volumen shooter who doesn't do anything when he doesn't shoot. Raptors are one of those teams that can use Gary Harris. Give him 6 shots a night off bench and call it a day.

I can easily see Orlando and Toronto ending up with each other's SGs. G-Harris is probably a good fit to what Toronto is doing. And Orlando needs a SG willing to at least try to shoot.

..

I know you are not a Fultz fan, but I kind of like this team:

Fultz/Anthony/some-dude
Trent/Suggs/rookie-1
F-Wagner/Okeke/Bol
Banchro/rookie-2/Isaac
Carter/M-Wagner/Bitadze

Maybe Orlando could flip Suggs and Okeke into a nice backup combo-wing, 3rd-string PF and a future asset to make it even better.

If something like that is next year's opening roster, I think the team is a lock to exceed 41 game in the W column.

Trading reasonably priced started for overpriced reserve ? Seems like not so great idea
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

He just had a 20ast game. I am not 100% sold on him either. BUT the guard rotation of Fultz, FVV, Cole, Suggs has me intrigued. He has the experience and grit we desperately need.

He's been less than stellar. Like someone said he did have a 20 assist game but to me it looks like his game is declining.

I'd be hard pressed to actually bring him in at this point.

Fred Vanfleet in the summer?

I think GTJ would be a better fit and I think he could be had for much less. However, his injury does have me worried. I would not offer a long term contract

VanVleet is a fascinating case of eye test v. advanced metrics.

His advanced metrics are really good and would rank as the best on the Magic by a mile.

18th in the NBA in RAPTOR
30th in the NBA in EPM
36th in the NBA in BPM
48th in the NBA in RPM

But many will tell you that he doesn’t pass their eye test and that they have no interest.

I’d absolutely take him if he wanted to come here. He’s a much better basketball player than Trent Jr.

He's shooting 39.4 percent from the field and shooting 34.2 percent from 3 off high volume this season. On top of that his team has been a huge disappointment from what they were last season even with the same exact roster with a top 3 coach at the helm. With his age and injury history I'm very weary of saying he'll bounce back next year.

This is one of those situations advanced stats doesn't help his case IMO. He hasn't been good.

What do we do for the 20-40 games we're missing Wendell Carter? To me that is our Achilles heel. We need a big who's capable of starting too.

Weltman outright stated in the closing interview that he expects to do a SnT deal this off-season.

What other realistic options are there to make a major upgrade at PG?

The big PG reshuffle has already happened in the last 12 months and we missed the boat. FVV is the last really good point guard yet to move. Young, Doncic and Harden might be all unsettled, but we don't really believe we can prise Luka or the Beard away, do we? Trae maybe, but the cost would be huge and the upgrade over FVV debatable.

We just have to ensure we get FVV.

A picks-based package for Fred (S&T) and Anunoby would be stellar.

Kyrie, Trae and even Dončić might be realistic options this offseason next to FVV who would be fallback. While Dončić might require serious trade package, we could sign Kyrie straight (need to check numbers, but we can get that cap space if we want) and Trae trade price might surprise you.

The chance Weltman brings Kyrie in to Orl is 0.00000001%

I don't know that and neither do you. What Weltman will or will not do is only relevant from perspective of getting fired, but Kyrie fits what we need. He comes with a baggage but it wouldn't be the first or the last time where a player with history of on-or-off court issues redeems himself in latter stages of his career.

Freddie Ball Hog with a triple double last night.

He is the greatest, Magic need pay for that.

Did I mention also he was like 4 for 17 in the second half and almost single handedly lost the game for the Raptors.

4 for 15 (by my count, could be a little wrong) and he still is forcing up bad 3's with the game on the line.

Hope the Magic can sign him to major bucks.

It depends if Kyrie decides he wants to play in Orlando or not. I think it's Kyrie's choice, not Weltman's
