I truly, honestly did not mean anything by it when I wrote that. I simply said Doc will have to keep an open mind. That's all I said. Jesus Christ, allow me to apologize for saying that. I've been trying to ignore the comments and avoid an argument. I never implied that Doc was this enlightened spirit that was going to take a DMT journey and have a vision of playing Jaden Springer in the playoffs. I simply said Doc should keep that option open if we get desperate. Nobody is expecting him to give Springer any kind of minutes in the playoffs unless injuries start to pile up. Again, I'm really sorry for saying that.
Man, relax. I simply found it kind of funny, but there's certainly no reason to apologize, this stuff isn't that serious. We're just having some fun here.
Well...There was a tad bit of sarcasm in the sorry. Look...I get it...You don't like Doc at all. I respect that...I'm not exactly over the moon for him either. I am terribly afraid that we are going to advance to the second round, grab a 3-2 lead on Boston with a chance to close it out at home on our own floor and he's going to coach us into a FKING LOSS! That is EXACTLY how I envision these playoffs going and no...I didn't need a dose of DMT to have this vision. All I have to do is look at his past history of playoff buffoonery. Do I think he's a good regular season coach? Yes, I do, I generally try and call it both ways with Doc. I don't trust him at all in the playoffs and that is where the doubt with me begins. That is really the only difference between how you feel about him and how I feel about him. I'm in no way ready to die on the Doc Rivers hill. However, as a loyal fan of this team, I'm going to keep the faith for now.
I get what you're saying, but you can't divide a coach in two, regular season and playoffs. A coach is either great, good, mediocre, or bad - there are gray areas, but it's essentially one of those. It's not that I don't like Glenn, I don't like or dislike most athletes or coaches unless they are repulsive individuals like Lebron James. it's that I believe he's a mediocre, unimaginative coach best suited for a team trying to make the play-in who happened to hit the lottery one year with a juggernaut group in Boston.
If you feel he isn't a coach who can win in the playoffs, which is really all that matters, then you and I feel exactly the same. The Sixers are a group that will require a coach with creativity, flexibility, and imagination to beat what are probably slightly better teams in seven game series'. They aren't good enough through the roster to just roll with your same rotations and play calls game in and game out.
My fear is that they are good enough to lose a hard fought 2nd round series or maybe even reach the ECF and lose there, and Glenn will be retained as we "run it back", which would be a dreadful mistake. I hope I'm wrong, but that's how I see it.
