Brown came out with great energy at the start, which was the only time the game was truly competitive.

But yeah, I'm firm on White over Brown, at both ends of the court.

Voted TEAM and hope to do so 15 more times this season to honor the greatest there ever was

But also: Mazulla’s first playoff win was earned by halftime and if you take a big-picture view of it, that’s pretty cool

The good thing about that 2nd half happening is they have something to talk about and improve on. Get it out of the way early. Hawks are outmatched. Only way Cs lose is if they lose focus and/or Hawks get hot from 3.

Mazzulla almost screwed it up sticking with that double-big too long. We were slow in transition D. We got stagnant on offense. The instant we went back to a single big we were faster and there was more spacing.

What concerns me is the Celts are still making stupid mistakes.

JB played well, but he had 6 turnovers.

And one of the turnovers was an over and back that was totally dumb!

White for VC, this guy just keeps getting better. Brad got him at a half price bargain at least. Amazing. Rest of the team looked good, but they did let the rope go a little. Thankfully Al was having none of that!

The only complain is the lack of focus and slowing the game in the second half
We didn't need Al heroics at the end if we played with more focus
This was a game where Kornet/Blake/Muscala should have gotten 5 or more minutes instead of running Al to the ground

More starters should have rested if we played with more pace

But, a win is a win
For 15 more wins like this

VC winner:

Read on Twitter

Should've voted Smart for CP for his defense on Trae and essentially quarterbacking our defensive coverages. But I loved the preparation and approach by the whole team from tipoff. Main credit goes to the coaching staff. Them letting go of the rope in the 3rd and early 4th is more a player issue.

They are ready and they’re better than last season. It’s a marathon so a lot of stuff can still happen but from 1 game; I saw as much as i could or needed to see

To add to my previous post, good win, just didn’t like that the guys were sleepwalking in the 2nd half. Tatum was literally walking bringing up the ball 7-8 seconds on nearly every possession in the 3rd and 4th.
Good assessment:

This frustrates me more than anything. Surely Joe can address this.

Sloppy with the ball. Other than that really good despite half assing the second half on D.

And to think there were people on here who kept going on about how JB couldn't be a #2 guy on a championship team haha

White had a very good game but to me Brown was the guy who deserved VC. Yes, his handle was more of a problem with the laceration and he had troubles including a bobble and missed bunny on a back cut ( which he recovered and turned into a 3 pt play)

Very first play of the game he steals the ball and finishes loudly at the rim. Totally set the tone. In the third quarter he was the only guy who showed up. In the fourth when Bogdanovich cut lead to 12, Brown went to work. Most importantly, the guys looked for him and got the ball in his hands.

Tatum was off the charts amazing in first half but he kind of mailed it in in the second half and it was Brown who delivered this time. We are so lucky to have drafted two guys capable of being the best guy on the floor.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

If they'd worked harder, they could have rested more?

I recall a scene in Cool Hand Luke that made just that point. :)

Tatum’s lazy second half unacceptable & offset his brilliance in the first half.
#7’s usual & awful 6 TOVs offset his otherwise great play. This has been going on for 6 years! Just stop it.
Without Derrick White, we lose. He was steady as a rock throughout - including our 18 minutes of awfulness where we just gave away 20 points of a 30 point lead for no reason.

Everyone needs to play 48 - do not give the Hawks any hope going back to Atlanta. They will not shoot 17% from 3 again. And we will certainly need all 48 from everyone VS the Sixers & Bucks.
