Embiid has to play and has to be a beast on offense and defense. Feels like he's the only advantage they would have in the series.

He'll need to find the open guys when being double teamed and our guys will have to hit their shots. We'll probably need to outhustle them too.

Not going to sit here and disparage the team, but it feels like everything would have to go perfectly.

A few key things.

1. A healthy Embiid. If he's knee is cooked, we are cooked.

2. Maxey can not average 8 pts against Celtics like he did previously.

3. Limiting their bench production. It's a good news that Brogdon is not doing too well in R1.

Ultimately, I only care about option 1 above which is all that matters.

They seem to have ridiculous injury luck.

It's late April, Sixers are in the 2nd round, and Embiid is hurt.

Just another year.

Game 3 again for the third year in a row after 2-0 home wins against lesser opponents.

If Hayward wasn't injured a couple of seasons ago, they probably already would have won a ring in 2018

Biggest thing to me is that we can’t over help on defense and let them attack close outs constantly. There will be at least one game where their shooters are on fire but we can’t overreact to that.

Trae Young is averaging 27/10/4 in this series against a Celtics defense that includes Marcus Smart, Derrick White, Jayson Tatum, and Malcolm Brogdon

Trae Young is averaging 27pts because he shoots a lot, he is at 53% TS in these 4 games, stop talking as if he has been great, he has not.

That team was not beating Steph and KD.

A lot of good points, but im a pessimist person. We dont match well with them, and Embiid will play injured. Probably Maxey will have a **** series too. I think we lose in 6 games, but i hope im wrong.

Iam on the defensive wagon. Specifically Tuck, Melton, and Harris. I also know we will see some "surprising" deflections/steals from Harden. Reed and Maxey have improved. Reed has learned not to bite on pump fakes. The fan focus favors offense. We have enough, it's our defense and effort that will step up and prevail.

This team has a different feel from the last few seasons, a little something extra. The game 3 & 4 wins against NJ were games that we lose 9 times out of 10 before, but found a way to win this year, even with a compromised Embiid one game and no Embiid the next.

I don't get into the whole 'woe is us' negativity that because it's always happened it's going to happen again. The Celtics are good, and they aren't the ideal matchup for us, but they are eminently beatable. And IMO the winner of this series is going to the Finals.

We need the kind of contributions we got the other day from Harris, Melton, Tucker, and Reed, we need Maxey to take that next step right now, and we need the Harden we saw in the regular season. We need Glenn to be the un-Glenn just one time. And we need Embiid to be as healthy as possible, even if it means sitting him in game 1 - I'd rather have a 90% Embiid for six games than 75%.

Since Niang will be a total liability in this series, Doc needs to keep him glued to the bench in favor of McDaniels and House, Jr. Knowing Doc though, he'll wait until we are down 3-0 before making any changes.

I think you can try Niang in the home games if Embiid and Melton are on the floor with him and see if he gives you some lightning bolt shooting but he should not see the floor in Boston. No way.

Better to run out the Reed/McDaniels front court and try to play competent defense with the bench units.

You see how Butler is averaging like 40ppg in wins against the Bucks this series? We need Maxey or Harden to do that (or both average high-20ppg) because you know the Celtics are going to take a page out of the Nets book in defending Embiid.

Just watch Jimmy Butler play in the playoffs and ask yourself if we have one guy that's capable of stepping up like that and getting huge bucket after bucket?

Nope.

Embiid is the obvious person as he's done it over and over again this season. But we've reached a time in Maxey's career where he needs to become that guy in order for him to take the next step.
